A few days ago Gigi-Hawaii mentioned how her grandson who she was babysitting banged his head on the corner of her computer hutch. I told her that my daughter, Tiffany put corner edge cushions on all her sharp edges at home. Tiffany said you could find them at Target or Babies R Us. I saw them today at City Mill (Hawaii) while we were shopping so I took a photo of it just in case.

Last year when Tif heard that Art and I both bumped our heads on the corners of the shelves in the carport tool closet, she sent those cushions for us and insisted we use them.
Therefore... it's not just for babies anymore.
I'd better not tell her that I tripped yesterday because she might send me a helmet.
That's good information, Kay. If I ever have my little grand niece in my care, I'll make sure I've got those corners around. And there always is my own klutziness to think of! :-)
ReplyDeleteBrilliant idea - but it does make me wonder how we ever managed to raise children safely in the past!!
ReplyDelete(I don't tell my children about my mishaps either - they only lecture me!!)
Good idea. Those look much better than the "make dos" I came up with for my own cabinets that were in attack mode for me. Thanks
ReplyDeletegreat suggestion...
ReplyDeleteI always love when things can be used for many different purposes-we have to keep you and Art safe!! I had to giggle about the helmet!
ReplyDeleteThat's a very clever idea. I need to get some. No little babies around here, but my hubby is a head-banger too.
ReplyDeletehmmm. I wonder if they would fit the corners of my computer hutch.
ReplyDeleteThe right corner is thinner than the corner of your shelves in the picture.
The left corner has a ledge next to it (so the keyboard won't fall off the platform), which makes that corner thicker than the right corner.
Are those cushions adjustable? or come in different sizes?
I'll tell David to check City Mill. Thanks for the tip, Kay!
I just clicked on your link to those cushions, and they do look like they come in different sizes. I'll tell David to measure both corners before he shops. Looks like he might need to buy 2 sets -- for the 2 thicknesses. Expensive!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great idea. I always learn something new from you. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThose are wonderful. I have a few corners I will put them on here too. Thank you. :)
ReplyDeleteBetter safe. . .
ReplyDeleteglad you, Art, & Mom made it through the storms OK!!

Well, there is a Tar-Jay opening soon in Hilo. I will certainly get some of these for us and for kiddies.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Tif thinks you and Art are already elderly, LOL.
ReplyDeleteBefore those things became available, people had to make do with whatever was handy. After he and Mom raised three children more or less safely, my father became paranoid when my youngest brother Rob started walking. He decided the underside of the kitchen table was too full of sharp metal angles to be safe for a toddler, so he used hand towels and duct tape to pad it.

I need one of those for the pen tray of my whiteboard at work. I don't bump it, but scrape against it regularly. I tore a brand-new blouse on it this week.
ReplyDeletethose corner cushions are good things. Hmm, never thought of them for adults, but ...great idea. Tif is so thoughtful and caring.
ReplyDeleteVery good idea. There are a few corners around here that could use those. I almost always have a bruise on my hip from the corner of my desk.
ReplyDeleteand knee, elbow pads, and a chest protector!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea. It is really good to meet someone from Hawaii. Maybe this is as close as this Kentucky boy will ever get.

You have such a sweet daughter.
ReplyDeleteEdo's little boy Kai has complete sparring gear for karate class. Maybe they can send you a set, Kay. ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the corner padding idea, but my one table fortunately has rounded corners.
I'm sorry but we should back to baby's age. I think such a kind tool is need for us/matured generation. (^0^ゞ
ReplyDeleteI need some of these, I am always running in to my one end table. Thanks Kay for posting this, you are always helpful,
