Since I'm reading my library books that I bought a couple of weeks ago, Art picked up my Kindle and started reading Elisha's Bones by Don Hoesel. It's supposed to be like Dan Brown without the controversy. I have to tell you that Art usually falls asleep reading. This made me a little nervous since I didn't think it would be great to see my Kindle falling to the floor when his hands went limp. I've actually sometimes seen him asleep still holding a book. This is very weird. Perhaps this explains why my son was able to fall asleep anywhere, too.
Anyway, I was surprised to see Art reading for over an hour and then picking the Kindle up the next several days and staying up while reading! He was totally glued to the story I'd downloaded from the Kindle Free (Limited Time Offers) site. I just checked and found the book is no longer free. It costs $2.39 now.
Well... I'm almost done with my book so I was going to read this magical book that could keep Art up reading. However, Art has now started reading Moby Dick on the Kindle.
Ah wellll......
It's the combination of technology and literature that's hooked him;-)
ReplyDeleteMoby Dick, the long version?? Oh no, now you'll never get your Kindle back.
ReplyDeletemust be time for his and her kindles...
ReplyDeleteI wonder if the Kindle will ever be replaced by the iPad (I read somewhere that it will) because it's such a nice size. I almost bought one instead of the iPad but opted for all the features instead of just one.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you may become a two-Kindle household before long.
ReplyDeleteI guess it really must be a good book. Will have to check it out. I´m always looking for books that keep me "up". :)
ReplyDeleteNow you know what to get him for Father's Day...
ReplyDeleteWhy don't you let Art keep the black kindle and you buy a white one for yourself? His and Hers!
ReplyDeletesounds like you'll have to get another Kindle...never thought about that, that each person needs their own Kindle, sort of like a smart phone!
ReplyDeleteOh rats, I almost got that one when it was free. Darn. That happens too often. I love the treaure hunt for good free books on Kindle.
ReplyDeleteGood for Art. Not so good for you. Maybe everyone else is right — time for one of his own, or get a new one for yourself and give him that one. Tell him it has his fingerprints all over it. LOL
ReplyDeleteDick hardly ever reads books. I've given up buying them for him. I certainly won't buy him any kind of an e-book reader, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him buy himself an iPad.

Yep, good for Art, not sure how good for you! Technology is poking its finger into lots of activities these days and I have to admit that I enjoy it! Hope you get to use your Kindle again soon!! Hope your weekend is going well, Kay!

Oh,oh. He's hooked. Now what?
ReplyDeleteSo, at first you weren't certain you needed one and now it seems you need two! LOL!
ReplyDeleteDon't let Art hold a drink too, or you'll have sparks when he thought he was sleeping. DrumMajor
ReplyDeleteI have an iPad now and can read books with it too but have not got around to downloading the app to do that with. I enjoyed the post.
ReplyDeleteReading puts me to sleep.
You would like the book, Dog Man, about the Japanese Akita and the man who kept the breed from going extinct during the war.
That really speaks well for your book choice!
ReplyDeleteI'm considering getting a Nook. We'll see.
I enjoy my kindle and read more than I did now. We got my husband one too, and we read scriptures together on them. Now they have one for 110.00, the same as the ones we got only advertising pictures, I wish that we'd waited a little while, lol.
