We got up today at 6:00 AM in Waterton and were on the road by 6:40.
KC went back to sleep in her carseat.
While crossing the border into the U.S. Art asked if they would stamp KC's passport for her. The agent said they did have a special stamp that they use only for children. We thought the bear was very appropriate.
The weather was absolutely stunning.
There was no flooding on this return trip.
There were no bison on the road, but plenty of cattle.
When we arrived back in Billings, we ate at the Jade Palace. Someone saw Art taking our photo and ran over to offer to take it for us.We were a little melancholy knowing that Art, Auntie, Mom and I would be getting up at 3:30 to catch the 6:00 AM flight back to Hawaii. We had a later flight originally, but Alaska Airlines cancelled the flight and we were stuck with this one.
Tiffany's flight had also changed and she would leave at a later time. We were supposed to have left at the same time. Luckily, the hotel offered a shuttle to the airport for her and KC.
It made us sad to think of KC waking to find us gone.

How delightful to have a special stamp for children.
Hope your return flight was uneventful and that the sadness of parting was quickly replaced by wonderful memories.
seems like vacations are too soon over but what a fun time you all had and gorgeous scenery!
Came over from Sylvia's. I have been avidly following your wonderful trip, with your extended family, and thank you for your frequent updates, and such wonderful photos. Travelling with a parent , aunt, and a daughter with a little child, gave such an "Indian" feel to it :-) ....
Yes, sad, but KC also knows that her grandparents keep coming and going.
That bear stamp in an official passport is so cool. I want one too!
Great skies.
Kay -- Be sure and let KC know that when you're "gone in the morning when she wakes," that it is temporary, and you'll see her again. (When we had a flood around Kansas City, blocking our usual highway to the airport, which was my parents method to visit, my young son thought the road was permanently flooded and he wouldn't see his grandparents again! I had to explain things quickly to stop him from crying. My Dad said they'd use a canoe if needed to be able to see him. The river receeded....) What a long, wonderful time you've had. DrumMajor
The memories you all will share are so wonderful!!! Thanks for letting us tag along!
Nice trip. HOWEVER, why didn't you show us a picture of you in your TANKINI at that water park-hotel that your son-in-law paid for???? lol
I enjoyed your trip and pictures. You saw so many different things and a great deal of two countries. It´s amazing!
I hope KC got over your being gone on the last morning.
That too would break my heart, to leave after all that time together. Hopefully you all can visit together again very soon. I don't know how you do it. We see Leeya at least once a month, and that often isn't enough.
Oh, good grief. Blogger makes me crazy. I see my post just kept copying.
Gigihawaii: Actually I did explain what happened in this Day #6 post:
http://travelerswife.blogspot.com/2011/06/day-6-yellowstone-to-rapid-city-south.html
The Water Park was attached to our hotel room which we could see from our indoor balcony. The noise and pandemonium kind of freaked KC out and she refused to go. So I never got to wear my tankini. :-)
I hate goodbyes...oh well, life goes on and tomorrow's another day...that's what I always tell myself.
Love the bear stamp on KC's passport! That is very nice of the border patrol to do that for children. Sorry your wonderful trip has come to an end!
Always bittersweet to say goodbye to our loved ones after a vacation, but oh what a lovely vacation it has been. Thanks for all these very special photos Kay.
Taking leave of our loved ones is the most difficult thing there is. Every time when I am in Australia and must go home again, my daughter and I are very sad. So I can understand very well the mood you were in when you left your daughter and granddaughter!
Thank you for sharing these photos! Have a lovely week.
That must have been a difficult separation. I hope you enjoyed your trip. I know we did when we were there in 1967. Imagine the changes since then.
Officially welcome home. :)
Thank you again for sharing these rich vistas with all of us. I have been much moved by the things you and your family have seen. How magic you could take the generations with you.
When we came back from Vancouver last summer, I was surprised to learn that they wouldn't stamp my passport. I wonder if they would have used the "kids" one if I'd asked?
KC is just adorable. I think that bear will be a constant companion for quite a few days to come. I hope it will always remind her of the days she spent with all of you on a very special vacation.
It sounds like you had an amazing trip, Kay. I feel so bad for KC waking up to find you gone. Sniff. Fortunately you do see her often - well, you probably don't think so. I've loved your photo's. Gorgeous scenery. You always take such nice vacations! It's fun to come along with you!!
Hi Kay me again, thanking you for all your comments! Yes it was a terrible misfortune that the church was damaged i the earthquake. The Wizard, however, survived. He even turned up at a party at Ann's house. He is 78 years old now.
Oh, I know just how you feel at the end of a super wonderful trip like this one was. But how beautiful your granddaughter is, your whole family! And you got to be together again. I am envious, but in a good way...
I know you were sad to leave your precious KC! You had such a wonderful trip, though!
I love that they have a special stamp for children!
