I had a few brief moments available on Thursday (Sept. 22nd) night so I had a quick look at a couple of blogs on my side bar. Hattie's Web had something about getting a flu shot before going to the mainland which reminded me that it would have been a good idea for us to get a flu shot before we left for Illinois on Sunday. We had only one day to find out if we could somehow get a flu shot.

All this made me remember to check on the date for Mom's flu shot. I'd reminded my brother on Wednesday that he should take mom while we were gone. However, when we checked online, we found that the Senior Fair is this weekend! Good gosh! We hadn't heard anything about it. So we're planning to take her there along with my brother on Saturday. Nothing like squeezing everything in at the last minute!
Now I'm off to clean the bathroom and cut our hair.
Art checked online and was astonished to learn that Tripler Army Hospital was having a Flu Shot for Everybody (military eligible) Day on Friday (Sept. 23rd). We couldn't believe the timing. We got up early (of course) and beat the mad rush hour as well as the crowd for the shot. We breezed right into the hospital and out. My arm aches a bit, but I'm so glad we were able to manage this! Wow! Thank you for the reminder, Hattie!

A good reminder for all of us. Thanks Kay!
ReplyDeletesounds like you are getting organized. We're off to Santa Fe next weekend to visit my son and family. Have a good trip!
ReplyDeletesuch a good tip,, do you cut your own hair?I always admire your hair when i visit here,
ReplyDeleteI also got MY flu shot yesterday, Kay. It's sore now but not too awfully much. Glad to have it, and glad you got yours... I'm already beginning to hear coughs and sneezes on the bus.
ReplyDeleteI got my son a Gardasil shot and I heard he shouldn't get the flu shot until he's completed all 3 doses. His last Gardasil shot is in December. Hmm, something to ask the doctor. Thanks for the reminder.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you all had the flu shot. Here on the mainland there are signs every where to get the shot. Have a nice nice safe trip.
ReplyDeleteI have never had a flu shot at all and don't intend to ever have one. I am afraid of having a severe reaction to it.
ReplyDeleteThe first and only time I got a flu shot, I got the flu and I haven't had one since, but I haven't had the flu again either. I guess we all do what works for us. Hope you have a wonderful weekend, Kay!

We don't get flu shots because perhaps just by coincidence my husband came down with some weird illnesses soon after having flu shots. First time, he came down with pneumonia, second time shaky vision (after MRI, blood tests, and specialists, it still persists undiagnosed)... I'm sure just a coincidence but now we avoid the shots to be on the safe side.

Laurie: Yes, I cut Art's, Mom's and my own hair. I just have Art trim the bottom edge of the back of my head because it's too hard to see.
ReplyDeleteI forgot to get my flu shot last year and I got a terrible cold. Good for you for remembering to get yours.
ReplyDeleteHave a great trip to the mainland!
Flue shots, it seems I just got one. I checked and our local pharmacy is offering the shots. I remember Tripler hospital well. We lived on Pearl Harbor at Radford Terrace, so it was a short hop.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your piece on the papaya trees. I look forward to finding out how the experiment works. Have fun in Illinois. I have a zillion relatives up there. Dianne
Flu shots for all is on our 'to do list'. Have a safe and rewarding trip.
ReplyDeleteFabulous timing, indeed, Kay.
ReplyDeleteYou are so multi-talented. I'd love to be able to cut my own hair. It's driving me crazy today.
Thinking of you and your trip to Illinois.
