I just discovered that Dina from Jerusalem Hills Daily Photo is gone from cyber space! Blogger has eaten her blog and is not giving it back. If anybody has a clue as to how contact somebody to help please let her know.
Here's what she wrote me:
POSTSCRIPT: Wow! After a week of being stuck somewhere in Purgatory, Dina's Jerusalem Hills Daily Photo was brought back to life in tact. I told her how I back up my blog (Kay's Musings) on Wordpress. However, I do still prefer the Blogspot site. I get more traffic on it and most of my friends are here.
Still, I like having the insurance of knowing my blog is backed up elsewhere. There was a very easy way to carry over all my posts and comments from Blogger to Wordpress.
Buuuut, since I've moved what I had over I can't carry the comments over from that point unless I cut and paste constantly so I'm just contenting myself with the insurance of knowing what I posted is not lost.
POSTSCRIPT 2: I just got this message from Dina:
"Dear Kay and Kay's readers, maybe because of all the good luck (good vibes?) that this post produced, I was able to get back into my blog yesterday afternoon.
Yay!!!
But exactly when I wanted to share that great news with you, my Internet connection died. Now the sun is coming up and warming and drying the wires and the Internet is back (but still not my phone).
Thank you all for your sympathy and suggestions!

It may be because I have this awful communications problem since November, the first rain. My telephone is most of the time dead and the Internet goes on and off. Plus, I am using two laptops. Maybe Google is suspicious of two IP addresses? Maybe it's certain foreign hackers who hate Israel?“Kay! I was just about to write to you!

Last Saturday Google asked me to sign in to the blog or maybe to the Google Account (are they different?!) and then they locked me out, saying there was "unusual activity on my account."
I wrote to them for help through their Accounts website but have heard nothing since.Google can't send me some detection code if I don't have a voice phone. And I don't own a cell phone for them to send me SMS.Yesterday the phone company put up new overhead cables on my part of the street. But the phone is still dead. Some kind of short circuit. Every winter it happens, from the rain or even dew. My wires are on the neighbor's roof.
Can you believe?? The black cables were full of little holes. The technician said woodpeckers made them, thinking it was a water pipe!
The phone company has learned from this and today they make much stronger overhead cables. I took pictures. Maybe someday I'll have my blog back and will post them.
On some blogs I can't even comment.
It is all frustrating. But I try to keep hope and positive thoughts. Just wish there were someone near to help me.
Is there some way to find a telephone number for Google help, I wonder, to talk to a human?

We also have some problems with Road Runner and have our phone, internet and television with them in a package. Time Warner owns and runs it.
Sometimes the squirrels chew into a cable and ruin it. It works until it rains or there is fog and then would interrupe service. She may be having squirrel problems If it is woodpeckers looking for water, she surely can keep a dish pan or something full of water and set it out for them. That would keep them form pecking holes in the wires looking for water.
I would do that anyway. In a country as dry as that place is, water is something a lot of wild animals just die for. And that isn't good for anybody or anything.
We keep fresh water out here all winter in a heated pet water dish. The birds use it and so do the squirrels who would have to otherwise travel long distances to get to running water in the creek that is not frozen.
I had google do the same thing to me, I couldn't accesss my blog, suspicious bhaviour it said, I emailed them through the forum and in three days they emailed back and said my bloghad been restored, it said I had shown a false positive for a a spam blog or something like that, I hope your friends blogis restored, I lost everything on mine, its very upsetting, I had to start a new blog because of it, I don't know of a phone number but they did answer back, my email
Oh my gosh that is so scary. A blog lady and AUTHOR that I read had the same thing happen to her, kaput, nothing, all her stuff gone - I thank goodness that I print every thing I write so it is not lost but to start all over and lose your followers and FRIENDS connections! Well, there's some advantages to the old world of paper communication.
I hope we find Dina floating in cyberspace.
I think the woodpeckers thought the "sound" from the lines were insects to peck. That's a cute story, if you're not the one without the power. I've seen woodpeckers tap on aluminum siding, which is one way to be woken up on a weekend retreat.
I don't think there are any humans at big companies...much like Hal running the spaceship, eh?

When I've had problems, I've gone to Blogger's HELP forum and posted the issue. They are prompt in posting a response. The more details a person provides helps to get the answer quicker. This is the second one I've heard of losing her blog due to it being turned in as spam. The other person got it back immediately when she complained, and everything is there. It makes me aware of how vulnerable we are to a service we count on. Hope she gets it back...
What an absolutely scary thing. Sure hope she finds her blog, I guess it could happen to any of us.

Wow - I've been trying to report some minor Spam - just one or two comments in the last week. I couldn't find it's URL though, so gave up. Good. Perhaps just best to ignore if one can. Mine was just an advert for running shoes.

Well, this is just terrible, but that's Google and Blogger for you. YOur friend really should change over to WordPress. It is such a much friendlier blogging device. I don't know how all you Blogger people manage.
Oh, also, many of the Blogger people complain about spam and some of you have that crazy secret code one must type in before commenting (hate that). WordPress catches the spammers for you and puts them aside. If you want, you can look at them, but I trust WP and just go my merry way.
I don't know the specifics of Dina's glitches but has she tried using a different browser to 'sign in'? Perhaps, try ....

I can understand the frustration Dina felt when she could not access her blog. I went through the same problem myself. One day I found my Blog LIFE IN MOTION blocked. I could not open it for many days. So I started a new blog A MAN ON THE MOVE. I still cannot open my old blog although others can comment on it. Very,very,very frustrating. I have a yahoo email and I presume google is troubling me to change over to their email.
I am happy Dina could get back her blog.Cheers.

Same thing had happened to me but Insignia ,a blogger friend of mine whose domain expertise is Server and Storage technology told me this - "its random. All our data will be distributed across storage servers. If one of them is having an issue or having maintenance schedule on them, and if by chance you tried accessing it and your blog data is stored on one of such servers, you might have not been able to get through during that maintenance period.
So its fine :) Dont worry :)"
And that's what I did - waited and my blog was back in a day .
And Kay I must thank you for your blog back up post ,I created a back up blog the same day I read that post.
This happened to me. I had to provide my cell phone number to receive a message from them to prove I was not a spammer. I hated providing my phone number but there did not seem to be any other way to get my blog back. This happened shortly after I had commemted on a new blogger's site and I believe they reported me as spam.
Hi Kay. If I may respond to Abe's comment and good suggestion:
Abe, don't have squirrels here but I do put out water for the neighborhood cats, jackals, and mongoose. Maybe I should get one of those red hanging things for the woodpeckers so they don't make holes in the telephone cables again. In Israel many gardens use drip irrigation so I guess the birds learned that black tubes should have water in them.
Dina: I don't want to scare you, but your comment was in my Blogger Spam folder. Weird... Something strange must still be going on with your computer.
There have been some viruses about. I was locked out of my account at one point. Which reminds me, I should back up my blog sometime!
