I looked out my window and saw this bird here with our neighbor's dog. The dog is always tied up and a great watchdog since it announces everybody's presence... loudly... including when I go out to get our paper. The bird has been taunting the dog for the last hour.

I saw the dog make one jump at the bird before it realized that the bird was staying just out of reach. Once the bird knew the dog could only go so far, it's been walking around and around and around the area almost looking over its shoulder to see if the dog is going to make a move. After a while the dog decided the bird knew what it was doing and pretended to ignore it.
Gosh, even on a rainy day there's comedy to be found.
Postscript: Ahhh relief! One of the neighbor's kids is sitting out with the dog so the bird has flown away.
hmmm. Methinks your neighbor needs a shed or closet! LOL.
ReplyDeleteI love feeding the birds -- sometimes they're better than television LOL
ReplyDeleteWhat a smart bird! I feel for the dog being stuck like that.
ReplyDeleteThat would have been very entertaining. Smart little bird! Poor dog but I'm glad he had company at the end of your post.
ReplyDeletesmart bird, dumb dog...lol!
ReplyDeletePoor doggie, bad bird!
ReplyDeletepoor dog, glad he got some relief. So the bird is intelligent.
ReplyDeleteAmazing!

heee..what a fun story !!! Leaving your blog with a big smile on my lips.Happy weekend.
ReplyDeleteSad enough to see a dog tied up, but then to have it be taunted by something...sadder.
ReplyDeleteI feel bad for the dog. If a dog is going to be owned by someone, then it deserves to become a member of the family, which means it deserves to live IN the house, not to be kept tied outside. My blood pressure is escalating....
ReplyDeleteNice picture, our dog when tied out was taunted by a black squirel. The bird looks like a morning dove.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jean...but it was funny that the bird thought of how to tease the dog!
ReplyDeletespeak the raven never more....
ReplyDeletejust watch.
Too bad you couldn't have snuck over and moved the dog's tether just enough to give the bird a fright. ;)
ReplyDeleteOh we have ahd loads of rain too. I am on the dogs side..and what are clean windows. I have enver seen them around here. lol!
Hi Kay. Am I having a problem or have you not blogged for over a week?
ReplyDeleteI have to admit, I would have enjoyed watching the teasing going on... but, I also am sad when I see dogs tied up for long periods of time. We're able to let our dog run free and crazy around our property and he doesn't bother anyone. He chases racoons, skunks, squirrels, and barks at the Magpies...but, he knows enough not to chase our chickens (who are range free) and to keep a fair distance from the feet of the neighbors horses that are boarded in our upper pasture. I like to see a dog have a life like that. But, not everyone lives where they can let their animals have that kind of freedom. So, I try not to get upset at those who have to keep their dogs tethered from time to time.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of birds.,.. I can hear our resident woodpecker attacking our house. grrrrr...
I haven't heard from you in a long time. Is every thing all right?
