Saturday Musings

Just a few thoughts on this interesting Saturday.

We invited my aunt and cousin to lunch at Kyoto Ohsho in Ala Moana Center today. I'd checked out the restaurant on the computer and found that people had given it bad reviews on the food and service. In fact, they said the service was terrible. Surprisingly however, the service was very quick when we went, very friendly and courteous. The food was plentiful, delicious and reasonable. Granted they were slow to give us the check but otherwise, we'd go back there again. I guess this teaches us that you can use the Internet as a guide but use it as a possibly fallible source.

Poor Art...
He was sitting outside a store talking to his sister when suddenly a bird flying overhead dropped a load on his leg. He had to wash it off before our lunch in the restaurant. Then when we returned home, we found this dead bird in our driveway. Art commented, "Is this some kind of message?"

And finally, I'm getting a bunch of thank yous now from loved ones who must have read my blog. I'm feeling a little contrite to have caused them discomfort because I'm suddenly getting thank yous from people I wasn't expecting one from. Still... I have to say, it does feel awfully nice.

  1. Hmmm, what is the meaning here? Do you think it could be the same bird? LOL

  2. Isn't it funny how things happen? And who knows what they all mean?
But, I'm glad you had a really nice dinner. Looks like a nice place.

  3. fun day...birds are unpredictable. I had to smile at you getting thank yous after blogging about it. It's almost as if they don't count if you have to ask for them. lol.

  4. That is strange about the birds. I wonder..a message from above.

At least you had a great dinner. The restaurant does look nice from the outside. You can never get enough thank yous, sit back and let them roll in because they must be well and truly deserved. We all need reminders like that I think.

  5. Well, Kay, I've always heard that it is good luck if a bird has a bowel movement on you. But then the dead bird in the driveway?? Hmmm. Makes me think of the movie, The Godfather. I think some dead animal was left at someone's door. Ugh. Gross.

  6. Oh oh I wonder what the message might be....You're right that restaurant reviews on the internet aren't always accurate. I've visited some that had great reviews and I found them to be horrible and vice versa.

  10. As I read this posting, the Seahawks football game just started against the Miami. Miami scored on the kick off, looking like the seabirds were dead ducks. But the touchdown was called back on a penalty, so maybe the dead bird isn't us after all!

  12. Oh dear, where I grew up when a bird pooped on you it was supposed to mean good luck, that money was coming. Perhaps the other poor bird was taking that money back? You do have a lovely blog, always an enjoyable visit catching up on what's going on in your part of the world.

  14. We don't always agree with reviews about restaurants either, but maybe the one you attended was really making an effort to improve. Sometimes criticism gives a good push toward making things better.

Don't know what to think about the birds....
