The other night we tried to get KC to say Grandma.
We said, "Say Obama, KC."
"Obama" KC repeated.
"Say Mommy, KC."
"Mommy," KC said perfectly.
"Say Grandma, KC," I encouraged her.
"Gobby." she said quickly.
"Grrrrannnndmmmaaaa," I enunciated slowly.
"Gooooooooooobbbbbeeeee," she smiled back at me.
I swear she's playing with me. Two years old and she's playing with me.
Tonight, my daughter and her husband went to Vegas for the weekend. They got some kind of great freebie deal with their flight and hotel because of my son-in-law's job and it was too good to pass up.
This is the first time that Tiffany is away from her daughter for more than a few hours. Tif's tummy was even a little queasy at the thought before leaving for the airport.
"It's the pizza I ate. I'm not worried," she told me. "I know you'll all be fine.
I was queasy wondering how KC would take it. I promised KC a small bag of fruit chews when we got back in the car to return to our house. Incredibly, an hour and a half later, she remembered my promise and held me up to it. I gave it to her. She asked me to sing to her on the way to our house and then brushed her teeth and went to bed.
So far... so good.
Let's see what she says when she gets up tomorrow morning and sees that Mommy is still gone. My stomach is feeling a little strange...
She is so darling! It brought back memories of my oldes daughter when she was about that age, she did exactly the same thing with several words that we tried to teach her! You guys will be just fine tomorrow.
ReplyDeletewhat a special time to have gobby and pappa all to herself. enjoy each moment and play lots.
ReplyDeleteThat child is so beautiful! I like to pop bubble wrap too.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure she will be fine with you. And if not - oh well. My daughter and I took care of Isaac about that age one night, while his parents ran out for a few hours. He was fine for two of those hours, then decided he wanted Mommy. Cried a little, but settled down again. It's an adventure.
How adorable is KC? And I love popping that plastic too! I think it's great that you get to spend the weekend together and I hope your daughter and son in law have a great weekend too. Oh, I am kind of looking forward to grandchildren I have to say! Such a beautiful relationship too.
ReplyDeleteOh my heavens, she's the CUTEST little sweetie! My youngest spent yesterday in a cardborad box; I love the way they find 'toys' in everything.
ReplyDeleteMine was just about to turn two when I went away for the first time; I nearly lost my mind with worry beforehand because she's such a clinger, but everyone said she didn't cry even once, just carried on as normal. On one hand I was relieved, on the other hand...ouch. Can't win! LOL
I hope your daughter has a wonderful wonderful time away, and how lovely it is that you're there to take care of KC and everything at home for them! I hope you have a lot of fun together today.
I predict everyone will be happy. You and Art will enjoy the time with KC, she will love having you all to herself, and Tif and her husband will enjoy a relaxing weekend away. It's all good.
ReplyDeleteShe is a cutie.
Oh she's a cutie and I'm sure you will all have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteHow lucky you are to have a chance to take care of KC! It sounds as if you are going to be called "Gobby" by KC, and just think, no one else will have such a special name bestowed upon them, especially by such a cute little girl! I love bubble-wrap too!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I'm with the kid... LOVE the bubble wrap. :)
ReplyDeleteI hope all went well this morning.
Gobby, you will be just fine. Taking care of KC on your own is when you get a chance to really get to know her. It's a wonderful opportunity. And what a little sweetheart she is!
ReplyDeleteAnd now I'm jealous. I want to go see my grand kids, too.
What fun you seem to be having Gobby! Just couldn't resist. I hope Tif and her hubby have a grand time!
ReplyDeleteKay;
ReplyDeleteKC is so cute and I'm sure that the time will just fly for her with her Gobby and Pappa. Nice for Tif and Ed to get away for even just a couple of days!
PS I still like bubble wrap!
if it's snowing on Tues...don't try and come...these roads can get slippery!
Love you
Hi Kay! I think KC is playing with you. What a cutie she is.
ReplyDeleteOnce the feel the warmth of Vegas your daughter and son-in-law may not come back until spring. Lisa
Oh..that is so cute and it will be a great story to tell to her date when she is 16...
ReplyDeleteShe's a darling and both of you will be fine!!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Kay! I think it's so nice that you'll be able to spend quality time with KC while Tif and her husband get to spend time together in Vegas. Oh, regarding the Gobby thing? KC is definitely playing with you! Lol! Have a nice weekend!
ReplyDeleteHow interesting to hear your daughter caring, and like a little girl, fearing the seperation of her own daughter. They just never stop growing up do they?
ReplyDeleteTiffany is fortunate to have you to take care of KC. I'm sure it brought great relief to be able to leave her with you.
Gobby is so cute, that just may be your name for a very long time:)
