We were driving through Honolulu a few weeks ago and saw this cumulonimbus cloud. It was pretty darn awesome. I couldn't remember seeing anything like that before in Hawaii.
The closer we got to it, the more dramatic, more ominous it looked. And yes, eventually, it did rain on us before we got home.
That does look ominous! I think I'd have gone straight home.
ReplyDeleteAn interesting (and quite beautiful) cloud. Was the rainstorm unusual in any way?
ReplyDeleteWhat a magnificent thunderhead!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Kay,
ReplyDeleteseeing this picture, I really wanna go to Hawaii.
it takes 8 hours to go there but there is the date line.
so we can't go there for 4 days.
if we could go traveling there for 4 days, it was easier to go there.
I really love snorkeling and Hawaii is like the heaven. so I really wanna go to Hawaii.....
I have a rosemary in my balcony.
I raise it for cooking and soaps that I make. but this time I can't use it anymore because you know, it's covered radioactive materials.
probably I have to throw away it.....
and you're lucky to stay at home till your son was 7 years old.
you have a license of teature.
if I did the same thing, I wouldn't get a job except a part time job.
Wow, it looks like a tall snowy mountain.
ReplyDeleteThe clouds look like a beautiful snow covered mountain...rare sight .I am glad that you captured the moment and shared.

ReplyDeleteI love clouds,, this is why,, beautifful,, looks like whipped cream,,
ReplyDeletei remember those clouds and the sudden rainstorms and usually a rainbow afterwards...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful clouds! I'm pretty sure you got rained on after those clouds formed. They do look like whipped cream. Now I'm getting hungry! :-)
ReplyDeletethey are fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThis cloud is amazing! I have never seen a cloud quite like that. Just beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteThat cloud looks awesome. So big and ominous. I'll look for it the next time I am outside.
ReplyDeleteIt looks so much like the clouds we frequently see here and it is beautiful! They can look ominous, but I think of them just as being more beautiful. That's probably because we do see them often and they rarely bring serious storms. But with this season being what it has, one just never know what kind of storms may be lurking in and behind them! Hope your have a storm free weekend, Kay! Enjoy!

It's truly magnificent!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Laurie and DJan. Whipped cream, lots and lots and lots of whipped cream.
ReplyDeleteAnd then rain. Hardly seems fair, right?
Gorgeous photos, however, my friend.

You know the names of clouds. Makes me think I should look that up. We get some fascinating formations here, too.
ReplyDeletethe angle of the sun in the afternoon (from the left), lights up those "whip cream" clouds that way. At least from Honolulu town.
ReplyDeleteStunning tho. :)
ReplyDeleteThat cloud is boiling up a storm!
ReplyDeleteGreat shot. Beautiful but also scary. It looks like a pot about to boil over.
ReplyDeleteI love clouds. They are so mysterious to me. That one is just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThose are very dramatic clouds, and just gorgeous to look at. I don't think I have seen anything like that around here.
