39 Years of Marriage

I nearly forgot it was our anniversary again.  Art tends to forget too.  We don't usually do anything much.

Perhaps we take each other for granted.  I know he will always be there for me and he expects the same of me.  We are usually like brother and sister or best friends, and always laughing lovers.  There can never be secrets because he knows what every lift of an eyebrow or sag of my shoulders means.  I know by the look in his eyes, what he's feeling or wanting.

When we were first married, I used to marvel at people who were married for ten years and wondered what their secret was.

I can hardly believe that we've been together for nearly four decades.  We've certainly faced challenges and managed to deal with them. 

It's been 39 years of adventure, laughter, encouragement, laughter, companionship, laughter and always love even though we almost never say the words.
