I'm writing a post a day just because it's a personal challenge to see how long I can keep my brain moving. However, it's been very difficult to do this and regularly see all the interesting things everybody else is up to.
Aside from all the everyday things that I need to do, I've had too many books to read on my Kindle and it's taking up too much of my time. I put a bunch of books on hold at the Hawaii State Public Library and suddenly they're all coming up for borrowing every couple of days. I'm uploading them onto the Kindle, but can't keep up. You do have to finish reading in 3 weeks.
I'm not putting any more books on hold for a good long while. However, I have put a bunch of science fiction books on hold for Art.

Well, at least you don't have to look at a pile of physical books in the corner and feel bad that they are not getting intended attention.

I enlarged the picture and looked at some of the titles. I've read most of those books, being a fan of SF for ages. The Dispossessed was one of my favorites. :-)
ReplyDeleteDJan, Art was excited to hear that you like SF too. He wanted to recommend the Giants series to you by James P Hogan. The only problem is that I looked it up on line and can't find a cheaper Kindle version. Hard copies are crazy expensive. I'd better tell Art to put his copies in the safety deposit box. Sheesh!

ReplyDeleteI seem to spend more time reading blogs and online breaking news than I do reading books. I have not touched my Kindle since November.
ReplyDeleteYou are so smart to borrow them from the library. Emjoy your reading and any you don't get to can always be borrowed again later on.

Awwww... You are much too kind. I'm not really doing it all. Art always lends a hand and it sure does help with mom cooking, cleaning, gardening and doing laundry all the time.

ReplyDeleteIt may be a phase. I swamped myself with audio books from the library, and kept finding things to do that involved listening to a book before it ran out. When the revolving books were like an out of control merry go round I just switched to FM radio.

DeleteIt amazes me that I can buy a book on NOOK, download it, and it magically appears on the iPad! What wondrous times we live in. I must admit, though, that I do miss holding the books in my hands so on occasion I still borrow or buy them.
ReplyDeleteSo many books, so little time. My Kindle is packed with over 430 books waiting to be read. Fortunately there is no time limit on them which is good for I add a new one almost every day.
ReplyDelete99.9% are free, first time author books. Like Dina says, at least in Kindle they are in a neat little bundle.
My daughter gave me a Kindle two years ago and I have not read a book on it yet – I have too many books at home, the paper kind. I saw the orchids in your last post – how beautiful! I also liked the purple orchid the best. It must have been such a beautiful show.

Well, after enjoying my Nook and reading books on it avidly, I now hardly ever touch the thing. I'm really surprised as I was such a fan. I do have a lot of good old fashioned books on the shelves that I need to get through.
ReplyDeleteI just started Kindle reading this January. The whole putting books on hold from the library is so inconvenient because, as you say, you have no control over when they come and then you have only three weeks to read it. I try to read some every day, but some days it's hard to fit it in. I have purchased more books from Amazon than I have borrowed from the library. I have a reading list that I am working on, and I keep adding to it as well as checking books off. I'll never get through it. But that's OK, as long as what I'm reading is interesting, well written, and adds something to my background knowledge.
ReplyDeleteNo kidding! I got too excited and overdid my holds. I have to read them because it took so long to get them. However, I've stopped putting books on hold for now. I've learned my lesson.
