I know it's not the best thing for me. It's carbs and I am pre-diabetic. Still, it makes me feel good. It's fabulous on a cold day and still wonderful on a hot day.
I love saimin. I'm sure you can get it in Las Vegas, but I don't know if you can get real honest to goodness saimin anywhere else on the mainland. I know because I've looked.
It's different from ramen or udon or soba or somen. I won't even try to explain the differences here.
It's a noodle soup with veggies, some char siu and other garnishes. My favorite right now is Zippy's saimin with extra garnish.
What's your favorite comfort food?

It looks delicious, and it can't be all that terrible for you, Kay. All those veggies look very healthy. If I didn't have to worry about calories, I'd eat ice cream every day. I allow myself to have it maybe three times a year. :-)
ReplyDeleteI wish my comfort food was this healthy but quite honestly mine would include sugar an chocolate , most likely, lol,
ReplyDeleteI think yours look quite healthy except the noodles maybe if diabetic , or is it high in salt, I will go google it to find out what exactly it is!!
I googled it, lol, sounds wonderful and lots of options!! I suppose the soya sauce makes it high in sodium, I thought it would be a Japanese recipe because it looked like something my friend in Japan makes but on google it says from Hawaii , I think it sounds wonderful and on second thought my comfort food would be Macaroni and cheese, for sure,
ReplyDeletei agree..it looks healthy to me! and it looks very good.
ReplyDeleteI love peanut butter and banana on toast with a cup of coffee in the morning. That starts my day off right.
ReplyDeleteL...w
Kay, it looks delicious. My comfort food is a tomato soup and rice with vegetables.
ReplyDeleteNot comfort food, but love a great hamburger! We had to take a trip out to the Alamo Springs Café, so watch for it on my blog in a few days!
ReplyDeleteThat's easy! Dark chocolate, even better with nuts.
ReplyDeleteI tried looking for this on amazon! I can buy a bag of it for only $1.99 and $45.77 in shipping! Maybe I won't try this! But it looks lovely...
ReplyDeleteMay be better in Honolulu, but you can find it here in the DC Rea too. We have a large Vietnamese, Korean and Chinese population. I think you can find the real thing in NYC also. Fresh ingredients are the secret. Dianne
ReplyDeleteI love hot bread of any kind and especially bread sticks hot out of the oven dripping in butter and with parmesan cheese sprinkled on top...
ReplyDeleteMashed potatoes. My friend Ann makes something she calls Hot Burnin' Love, which is buttery mashed taters smothered in bacon and onions. Cholesterol comfort beyond belief.
ReplyDeleteBeef stew or mac or baked cheese make my world all better.
ReplyDeleteEndless quantities of anything chocolate or macaroni and cheese with knockwurst. LOL
ReplyDeleteI don't think I have one
ReplyDeleteChocolate - specifically Dove Milk Chocolate. Soooo unhealthy. I tried the dark chocolate for a bit to pretend it was healthy, but it didn't offer comfort at all!
ReplyDeleteThat looks absolutely delicious! Favorite food? I couldn't come up with one. I like food!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I have a comfort food...I think I have comfort blogs and YOURS is one of them! xxx
ReplyDeleteComfort...some homemade soup
ReplyDeleteThe soup looks so good..I like all kind of food..but preferably veg..
ReplyDeleteIt looks very good. Potato dumplings are my comfort food--oddly enough with butter if it's emotional comfort I seek or with a light tomato sauce if I am feeling physically punky.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I can get saimin here although we eat many different types of noodles here. I think my comfort food is chee cheong fun (rice noodles roll in Cantonese).
ReplyDeleteChocolate and a latte are instant de-stressers for me.
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother's chicken pot pie with her homemade biscuit topping. Just can't find anything close to it. Right now I am keeping pretty happy with fresh homegrown tomatoes:)
ReplyDeleteThe colors are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteTuna noodle casserole like my grandma made us always comforts me and reminds of childhood.
ZIP Min at Zippy's!
