One of the things we enjoyed doing while in Chicago was taking 8 year old KC to all her different extra curricular activities.
Tiffany has KC enrolled in myriad classes that I thought at first might be over scheduling.
However, then I saw how much KC enjoyed them all and was unwilling to give up any of them.
Actually, I did also have our kids in Spanish, swimming, piano, and ice skating. I'm glad they were introduced to those skills. I am completely unable to balance on ice skates or swim but my kids can.
I'm wondering how long KC will keep taking these classes.
I have a feeling Tiffany wouldn't mind having a break from driving her everywhere.
What kind of classes did your kids go to?

Our grandkids are into swimming now! Izzy didn't like dancing! Jos is in Brownies, too!
ReplyDeleteWhen my son was growing up, he didn't go to any extracurricular classes because they weren't offered in our rural area. I sure wish he had learned to ice skate! :-)
ReplyDeleteThese activities are better than staring at the iPad all day.
ReplyDeleteDance, piano, guitar, voice, 4-H, swimming, drama, and more. It exhausts me just listing them! Good on your daughter for exposing her daughter to such things. And wonderful that you got to see KC enjoying them.
ReplyDeleteShe looks lovely in each class and each outfit too. It's very good she does these things. Why don't you take swimming there at home. It will give you a new bond with your granddaughter. :)
ReplyDeleteMy 16 year old daughter takes part in extra German, Maths and Chemistry classes - she is typical scientist.
ReplyDeleteLife is good for kids these days.
ReplyDeleteNaomi's kids have swimming lessons and all three go to karate classes. I had fun going to watch them learn.
Edo's Kai is totally into hockey and he is a star player.
I never took any kind of classes when I was a child
ReplyDeleteKC sure is growing up fast! My daughter did dance and wishes I had put her in tennis earlier instead. There was also swimming piano and taekwondo.
ReplyDeletewhew! That'll keep you young - or kill ya! LOL

My kids didn't have nearly as many activities as kids seem to have now . There was one session of swim lessons, Jill played the flute in school band, they both played youth soccer, and track and field in high school, Jill was a member of Campfire and I was the leader for many years. Tom was a soccer coach for Jake's team forever. We had summers off, of course, and we had cabins on Whidbey Island and on the Oregon coast, so we got around. We stayed busy, but not too busy.
ReplyDeleteI do remember feeling like mom's taxi service when my kids were growing up but I also seem to think things were a little less formally organized in those days. But., yes, piano, swimming, tennis, baseball, track...
ReplyDeleteMy kids were in swimming, hockey, dance, guides, cubs, and piano. They've not stayed in any of these activities but I'm sure they benefited by the skills they obtained from them.
ReplyDeleteI also could not swim. Children here usually go for piano, self defense and swimming lessons.
ReplyDeleteOh, Kay, KC has just grown by leaps and bounds. She is a well-rounded, loving girl, and Tiff and Ed are doing an outstanding job raising her. Matt's extracurricular activities were not in the arts, but soccer, t-ball (then Little League, Pony and high school baseball), and Pop Warner (and then high school football). He has the sports talent that I soooo lack (takes after his dad, I guess). I resent the fact that he turned 30 this past October :-(
ReplyDeleteSince we had 4 kids, we didn't have them in hardly any classes. For extracurricular activities, our son played baseball for a little while until he no longer liked it and our two youngest played soccer - which seemed to consume all of their spare time with daily practices and games on weekends.
ReplyDeleteI suppose one could say that they were deprived, but I considered it as saving my sanity.
you can over program kids and their chauffeur. I had my sons in counts, soccer and a couple in drama groups.
ReplyDeleteMy kids mostly determined their own activities. They seem to have done OK in life!
