I have no idea how we got on this topic, but my brother and I were talking about teeth brushing. He's always been blessed with good teeth. He never needed braces and didn't have many cavities. Mom insists it's because she was able to drink more milk during her pregnancy before he was born.
Anyway...
He and I started talking about flossing and he insisted that you should floss first and then brush. He was surprised that we would do it in the other order. He felt you could get the major debris out of your mouth first with the floss and then polish the teeth by brushing after.
Well, we like to brush the debris out of our mouth first and then floss what we might have missed between our teeth.
I looked it up on the Internet and it seems it really doesn't make any difference. What do you do?

This is an interesting idea to ponder. I brush then floss mainly because the dental tech does it that way when cleaning my teeth!
ReplyDeleteAnd you thought after talking about your feet you were grasping for topics. LOL This is very interesting however. I do floss first and like your brother, I want the debris out before I polish up the pearly whites.
ReplyDeletei worked in dentistry for years and i always floss first and then brush.
ReplyDeleteI think I have read somewhere that it is preferable to brush-floss, but I can't do it, so I floss-brush. It just makes sense to me.
ReplyDeleteFloss then brush. Got a chuckle from your topic. Wondered if you make a list of topics as they come to you then post as you have time. Always an interesting read, Kay.
ReplyDeleteI floss first!
ReplyDeleteBrush first, then floss. :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a question. To me, it doesn't matter. I floss on and off during the day when anything get's stuck.
ReplyDeleteWater pick, then brush.
ReplyDeleteWe brush then floss - maybe we should change!
ReplyDeleteI floss while setting in my recliner reading my iPad. Later when I go to the bathroom to dress for the day I brush.
ReplyDeleteBrush first, then floss.
ReplyDeleteI have spaces between my teeth that tend to collect annoying bits so I tend to floss first, but not always. Sometimes I floss after brushing. I never worried about it before. Now I wonder if there is a "right" way!
ReplyDeleteOoh! I'm really bad. I only floss once a week.
ReplyDeleteI brush then floss, because that's what they do at the dentist when I go in for a cleaning.
ReplyDeleteI worked in a dental office for eight years and we always taught our patients to brush first and then floss. The idea of flossing is to break up the gummy plaque in the crevice around the gum tissue and on the teeth. The plaque contains bacteria and introducing saliva into the crevice around the tooth causes the acid in the bacteria to be neutralized and therefore unable to produce the acid that causes tooth decay and gum disease.
ReplyDeleteI rarely ever floss to be honest
ReplyDeleteI brush first ...
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
I brush, then floss, then brush again lightly. Also, I don't use toothpaste - I use Peelu powder, horrible stuff that I had bottles of, and I suppose it has been good for me. I suspect that nice minty toothpaste contains flavoring, maybe even sugar, so it tastes really good. I will finally run out of my Peelu powder stash soon. Then it will be time to decide to find more, or go back to my Colgate or Crest brands.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you I brush then floss...but either way it's important to care for your teeth.
ReplyDeleteI also brush, then floss, but I think either way is fine, it is just good to do both. :)
ReplyDeletei floss first...i think that helps open things up a little for brushing. plus, sometimes when i floss, it smells a little. i like the freshness of brushing after!!
ReplyDeleteFloss first!
