We got a letter from Non-Stop Travel to attend a luncheon at Ala Moana's Jade restaurant where they were planning to entice us into going on a river cruise with them. Hmmm... free food?
We have not wanted to use the Non-Stop Travel agency ever since we joined them on a Mediterranean Cruise a couple years ago, but for free food Art thought we could give them another chance.
When we got to Ala Moana shopping center, I was worried we'd forget where we parked our car so I followed the advice our daughter Tiffany gave us when we were last in Chicago.

When I saw the Jade Dynasty Seafood Restaurant I realized we'd eaten there before at a wedding reception we'd been invited to.
We were startled when the person in line with us to enter the restaurant said she didn't even want to come because she was also upset with Non-Stop Travel for not even providing their group with an escort to take care of emergencies, coordinate things, etc.
Ahhh well...
I did meet another couple who told me they'd traveled with Non-Stop and were happy with their experience.
Lunch was at 3:00. We'd eaten a snack ahead of time so we weren't starving like some other people there.
The food was good. There were some dishes I didn't even recognize, but they were tasty though VERY bad for my diabetic diet.
This was the second event which had about 150 people also.
Once lunch was over there was a AmaWaterways River Cruising presentation. Apparently they do river cruises in Vietnam/Cambodia, Europe and Africa. It sounded wonderful.
Non-Stop would take a group to one of those destinations, do a few days of land touring and then go on the river cruise.
It did sound quite interesting. We'll think about it...

ReplyDeleteClever trick about the snapping a pic of the car park, but then I would have to remember to take the picture in the first place. I sometimes resort to hitting the panic alarm but that only works if I am in the general vicinity of where I parked

ReplyDeleteIf you did not like their service...and they did not address changes to client's complaints, I would not go with them. If they have to provide a free lunch to get customers, than one wonders why they are not more competitive.

ReplyDeleteKay, We did a AmaWaterways river cruise on the Danube last June. It was wonderful. You can book it through AmaWaterways directly though we used Untours as it turned out. It's a wonderful river cruising company. We had no complaints. Only two off boat excursions cost extra. Every other one was included in the total fare. Food is exquisite too.

sounds interesting at least the free lunch part. Wish my hubby would go on a cruise with me. I've done one only to Alaska...
ReplyDeleteA cruise is one thing I've never had any desire to do. For one thing, I hate to travel. It's such a burden anymore. I hate being patted down at airports.

ReplyDeleteI keep telling my son to make an app that finds my car. He doesn't take me seriously. Good tip about taking a picture. It helps that my "new" car is flaming bright red.
With the price of a cruise here we could feed about 200 people at a food pantry in our tiny town..People are hungry and angry with no jobs and no ability to ever buy a 40 year old home that costs about $200,000 more than it is really worth..You and your husband are very well off to some peoples way of thinking you truly are, living in the most expensive state of all of the USA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
