Gigantic Moth

The other day, we saw this super gigantic moth attached to the screen of our kitchen window.

We figured it would fly away on its own so we left it alone.  We left to go shopping and do some other errands. When we returned, it was still there so I had to take a photo. It was between 3-4 inches long.

Does anybody know what kind of moth it is?

  1. If you were still in Japan, I'd say Mothra.

  3. I'm not 100% sure, but the closest I could research was the Yellow-Striped Armyworm Moth

  4. Don't know what he is but I'd keep my closet doors locked in case he is into clothes.

  5. It is wonderful, whatever it is, and it needs to be hiding on a tree, not a window screen.

  8. This moth is not only large but old. The ends of the wings are tattered and worn and no I don't know what it is.

  9. George says Big. You inspired him to take a picture of the one inch spider outside our bedroom. We don't know what he is.

  11. Wow! He's beautiful whatever he is. I love Infidel's answer -- a Behe-moth!

  12. You best find out what kind it is just in case it poses some danger.

  13. It's beautiful! have you looked under its wings? We have quite a few 'underwings', like tiger moths, who have lovely colours.
