Mom's Christmas Cactus bloomed on schedule in December.
The flowers were not quite as abundant as they were last year, but they were pretty.
After a few weeks all the flowers fell and it was just green again.
With the cold weather we've been having, I guess the Christmas Cactus thought it was time to bloom again.
There are buds forming all over the plant again and some blossoms are already blooming.
It's a bonus for the cooler weather we've been having. I'm hoping the cooler temperatures last a bit longer.
Almost forgot... the poinsettia is also still looking gorgeous after our neighbors gave it to us in early December. Mom must be praying over it or something.

I should think about getting a Christmas cactus. It might like our light filled apartment. Yours are lovely.

ReplyDeleteMy early December poinsettia lasted until the first of March. I only tossed it because it had started to lose its leaves and was making a mess. Also, I was ready to put winter away and get on with the tulips and iris.

ReplyDeleteYour Mom has good prayers and a green thumb. I have a photo from one of my Hawaii trips, where I'm standing in front of a huge, outdoor poinsettia TREE! It was much bigger than a bush, and full of blooms. Lots of things grow better in Hawaii! Linda in Kansas

ReplyDeleteMy old Christmas cactus used to bloom at Christmas and spring all the time. Of course, I was very nice to it all the time.
ReplyDeleteMy poinsettias (very small pots) are also still in bloom - it might be the cold weather, as you say.
ReplyDeleteAlso, do you notice all the mango trees have so many flowers? So glad, because I LOVE mangoes. One gardener told me that cold winters mean lots of lychee. We shall see, though I do not really care for lychee.
I do imagine they last longer in Hawaii
ReplyDeleteOur Christmas cacti have often re-bloomed, but not heavily like yours! Of course ours are also not outdoor plants.
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful! My orchids do well because I have lots of indirect, northern light. But I don't have good sun from the south which I think the Christmas cactus needs...
