April 7th: Yokohama

It was Sunday. Our job was to find a few things in Yokohama for our grandchildren that were small and unbreakable. We didn't have much room in our suitcases so it would be a challenge. We also needed to find the best ways to move about the train stations and city for mom. This meant finding elevators, escalators and the closest stops to the hotel to minimize walking.

It was also forecasted to rain in a couple of days when we would bring mom to Yokohama from Sendai. Finding places to eat and visit would be a challenge.

We began the day with a nice breakfast in the dining room of the hotel. We saw that other Eco option guests of the hotel were leaving their garbage and used towels outside their door. We followed suit.

We found the shopping area we were at last October when we came with a tour group. There we found a Daiso (108 yen store) that had the little teeny tiny Legos that my granddaughter wanted.

And amazingly, we found the tonkatsu restaurant that our tour guide introduced us to last year as well.

It was terrific!

Our son texted us photos of cherry blossoms at the Washington, D.C. mall. Our grandsons were loving it.

Incredible to think we've seen cherry blossoms in Japan and Canada, but not in Washington, D.C.!!!

Someday...

We were satisfied with our search for the closest train stops and easiest routes to get to wherever we needed to be.

We also found a huge museum that we knew mom would enjoy right next to the hotel but it seemed closed and out of business. I asked several businesses around the area, but nobody had gone there or knew if it was open.

Dinner was another 7/11 bento. Our lunch was so big that we wanted something a little lighter for dinner.

It was a good, relaxing day.
