Groundhog Thursday

Art and I seemed to always know what day it was because I had Zumba on Mondays and Fridays and we walked with our friends at the mall on Wednesdays. Tai chi on Thursdays was also another reference point. Art walked with a classmate and they met another classmate at McDonalds twice a week. On Sundays my brother would stop by to see mom. It's been so long since we've done these things that I've forgotten what else we did and what day we did it on.

Now that there's nothing to mark our days the only thing we have left is Thursday because Friday is garbage pick up.

So every Thursday we'll  exclaim, "It's Groundhog Thursday AGAIN!" just like the movie where the character repeated the day over and over again.

The scary thing is that with nothing to mark our days the months seem to just slip by faster and faster.

Sigh...

Groundhog Thursday seems to arrive within a couple of days.

How are you keeping track of your days?

  1. Sue has her kaffeeklatsch with her lady friends on Tuesday and we usually have one in the same place with with friends on Thursday. We did get back to little family, Monday, dinners for awhile, but they are on hold again now that the kids are back at school and the COVID rates are rising.

  2. Hahaha!! Kay I know it's born out of frustration, but I love Groundhog Thursday--I plan to adopt that as it's the only day of the week for me I had nothing for! For me it’s been Laundry Monday, Grocery Tuesday, Soup Wednesday & Fish Friday. Groundhog Thursday sounds perfect :^)

  3. I have two Zoom yoga classes, Tuesdays and Fridays, and then Thursday is some kind of hike or walk. Today it will be in the rain, so probably not that long. But you are right about how they seem to come around much faster these days as we have lost our old habits for each day. :-)

  4. Funny but we have an expression "It's Thursday already!" Used to be because it was Boot Camp day at Vantage House where we lived and it started at 8 am. Thursdays seemed to roll around so fast then. Then came Covid and everything canceled then we moved! I said it this morning because, yes it is Thursday and I'm heading out shortly to meet a women's group for the first time. They meet in the parking lot of the church. My attempt to make some friends in this new place.

  5. Snap.. except.our Groundhog Day is Sunday when the bins go out to be emptied very early Monday morning :)
No other markers in the week at all.
And you’re right Kay - the weeks are pass by very quickly even with nothing to do!

  7. I am having the same difficulty with trying to figure out which day it is. It was trash day today, that helped :)

  8. My pill case with days of the week on it tells me the day! Just starting to get a few regular things back like church on sundays and then there's always tues-garbarge, laundry and shop food days. But things have definitely slowed down. BTW the ladies at our DUP meeting all wore masks except when announcing or taking photos and we also broadcasted it on Zoon for those who wanted to stay home...

  9. Like Lim, my pill case tells me what the day is. Writing in my blog reinforces this. Beyond that, I lose my afternoons.

  10. Monday Blog day and Doctor appointments keep me on my toes. And you are so right, while the days are not full, they are really racing by.

  11. Yes many normal aspects of life such as knowing what day of the week it is seem to be fading away. One hopes as distressing as it is that a better new things are ahead as we have certainly seen the uncovering of many things that need attention. I personally am looking forward to voting!!! Best wishes to you always. Better days are ahead

  13. Now that the 1st round of Honolulu restriction easing is in, I have Mondays at Hawaii Potters Guild, Wednesday night is rubbish bin day for blue or green, Sunday night is regular grey trash bin, and Thursday mornings are beach swim days with my pal Esther. I actually LOVE the lack of my old commitments each week. Somedays I have days in a row with nothing planned and so I go out in the yard and work like a maniac weeding and gardening until dark. Time is flying by and 2020 will be like a comet that came and went. And yet, it will also be a most memorable year and may be the reference point for great change in my life.

  15. Keeping track of days was abit of a problem at the beginning of the pandemic but not anymore. I don't know of anything special. I just got used to it.

  19. We put our vitamins for the week in little containers that have the letter for the day of the week on each box. We often joke that if we didn’t have these every morning, we wouldn’t know what day of the week it was!

  20. I track the dsys mainly by the day my gardeners come which is also trash pickup day. I must fill my trash, recycle bins Tues. and have greenery bin available for gardeners. Beyond that unless i have appointments i have to figure out the day, referring to my iPad mini’s calendar as needed or an old-fashioned paper calendar I persist in using.

I really LOVE hearing from you! However, if you sign in as ANONYMOUS, please don't forget to tell me who you are in the comment box by just writing your first name. We would all appreciate it if you kept your comment respectful and kind.

I’m using Comment Moderation for any post that is more than a day old because of aggravating SPAM. Therefore, if your comment does not go up on an older (more than a day old) post, it's because I need to OK it first. I'm sorry to have to do this, but again... sigh... it's the spam that's driving me crazy.
