OH MY GOSH! Remember that photo I posted last Friday about the coins I found in my Zumba bag wallet after 2 years of not going to Zumba when the pandemic hit?

Well, Art was looking at it closely and discovered it's not an American coin! 🤯

I confess I did look at that fellow and figured it was some new famous American person the US mint had printed while I wasn't paying attention.
Here's a close-up of the coins that Art took for me to show the differences. I really should use my glasses.
Here's the heads and tails of the quarters coins.
Kind of looks like Thai money, doesn't it? I wonder what it is and what it's actually worth. And who the heck gave it to me?

Heeeey! Art just found the coin online. It is Thai.
AND....
It's worth 14 cents. That's a big coin for being worth just 14 cents!

DeleteKay I know TECHNICALLY you're in America, but Hawaii is pretty exotic compared to the rest of us landlubbers--I'm surprised your coinpurse isn't filled with coins all over!
ReplyDeleteThe last time I emptied out the coin container. I found a coin-sized medal (and have no idea how it got there). I suspect if something is the same size as one of our coins someone could use it for a transaction and the cashier would take it if they weren't paying attention.
ReplyDeleteIt used to be way more common to end up with Canadian coins here in northern Vermont but I don't see them so often anymore.

I do remember the occasional Canadian coin when we lived in Illinois.
DeleteWow, that is interesting. The treatment at the edges is unusual. Like Olga, in Florida we got a lot of Canadian coins. Nothing exotic here in tiny town Arkansas. Wonder if yours would work in a slot machine?

DeleteThai bills are very pretty but I don't remember dealing much with the coins--probably because they were worth so little. (so were the bills actually, I had to do LOTS of math)

How fun Lin says, I'm giving my littlest grandkids some coins from my parents tours to discover where and what. My hubby also has a coin collection from his youth in our safe deposit box that he shows every few years when we get family visiting.
