Well sheeeesh!
I bought the Ailun screen protector for my new iphone 14pro last year. We called the new iPhone my Christmas present from Art. (There was a big T-Mobile upgrade sale on it.) I then bought it for Art because T-Mobile had an even BETTER 🙄 upgrade deal a month later for Art.
But then I ran into some problems. The super duper Otterbox iPhone drop protector cover would not fit with the Ailun camera lens protector on so I had to buy a different HLija camera lens protector instead which did fit.
And then a month later, I noticed a fine line on the Ailun glass screen protector of my phone. I take very good care of my phone and had NEVER dropped it. I've only had it for a month, for goodness sakes! You can only see the cracks in a certain light so I missed seeing it for a while.
Anyway the screen protector came with 3 protectors so Art was able to use one on his new phone and now I could replace the cracked one with the remaining protector.
And if it cracks again... well... I think I'll try another brand.
Sigh... 🙄

William dropped his tablet. I thought to replace the cracked glass, but was surprised to learn that it is cheaper just to buy a new tablet! What a throwaway society we are. I made the decision to get him a screen protector and a case whenever he gets a new tablet. It will be a while.
ReplyDeleteOh, brother.
ReplyDeleteI realize things are not made to last these days, but good grief, what a bother.
ReplyDeleteI am glad to hear they came with replacements, but that makes me think this must happen all the time! :-)
ReplyDeleteMy protector on my Xr is 2 years old and holding up. Fingers crossed.
ReplyDeleteAt least it protected the screen
ReplyDeleteI think I wrote that I gave up on using protectors back when you wrote the post about obtaining them. I have broke lots of those protectors but since giving up on putting them on, I have not broken a single touch screen on my phone and it hasn't been because I haven't dropped it. I do quite regularly. So it has probably been ten years since I last used a protector and I haven't had any issues. But it is a hard sell for sure because all it takes is one broken touch screen and my tune would probably change.
ReplyDeleteWorking through a cracked screen is very trying to the eyes, like trying to see through smeary glasses!
ReplyDeleteI broke and cracked my protector but luckily, the screen was fine. It certainly did its job! I bought another one which has a lifetime warranty, even if I drop the phone. Pure Gear Steel 360.
ReplyDeleteI have never used a screen protector on my phone. I do use a sturdy case and I have dropped it several times on the hardwood floor, but so, so good.
ReplyDeleteMy wife had a similar issue but with her Google phone
ReplyDeleteI have never used a screen protector on my phone either, but I did use Otterbox... which is pretty secure... and have never had a screen crack (even though I have dropped it on occasion). But with my new Apple SE phone I did get a screen protector and there was no Otterbox in the store that fit, so I had to get another kind (much thinner). I've only had it a few months, but I have noticed that my screen protector is scratched (don't think it's cracked) and you can only notice this in a certain light also.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I should use a screen protector too. I never have.
ReplyDeleteThey've always got some to sell us that we really need.
ReplyDeleteThat's unusual. Hope it doesn't happen again!
ReplyDeleteWay back in the early 2000s when I bought my first iPhone, I asked the young salesman, who had taken very good care of me and another friend in our purchase of this relatively new device, about a case for the phone. "No, you don't need one, you'll do just fine and it would just be a bother to you." Okay, and off I went with that uncased iPhone. I've had five more since then, and never had a case, or cover. The grandkids have played with my phone since toddlers. I take the phone everywhere, and the only time I've done something to damage the phone was leave it in my pants pocket and it went through the wash, completely killing the phone.
ReplyDeleteI never knew about data blockers, a good thing.
ReplyDeleteI've replaced the glass screen protector on my phone several times. I recently found a couple of screen protectors for my phone at a thrift store and was thrilled to pay 99 cents rather than the higher cost at a regular retail store!
