We were sent the following chuckles from our tai chi communications director.
Limit all US
politicians to two terms:
- One in office
- One in prison
Apparently, Illinois already does this, and it seems to work for them!
Kay: We lived in Illinois from 1974 until 2008. In that time 3 of Illinois' governors were indicted and sent to jail. Daniel Walker, George Ryan and Rod Blagojevich 🙄
Only in America ... do drugstores make the sick walk all the way to the back of the store to get their prescriptions while healthy people can buy cigarettes at the front.
Only in America ... do people order double cheeseburgers, large fries, and a diet coke.
Only in America ... do banks leave vault doors open and then chain the pens to the counters.
Only in America ... do we leave cars worth thousands of dollars in the driveway and put our useless junk in the garage.
Only in America ... do we buy hot dogs in packages of ten and
buns in packages of eight.
Only in America ... do they have drive-up ATM machines with
Braille lettering.
And here are just some things to think about:
Why does the
sun lighten our hair, but darkens our skin?
Why can't women put on mascara with their mouth closed?
Why don't you ever see the headline 'Psychic Wins Lottery'?
Why is 'abbreviated' such a long word?
Why is it that doctors call what they do 'practice'?
Why is lemon juice made with artificial flavor, and dish washing
liquid made with real lemons?
Why is the man who invests all your money called a broker?
Why is the time of day with the slowest traffic called rush
hour?
Why isn't there mouse-flavored cat food?
Why didn't Noah swat those two mosquitoes?
Why do they
sterilize the needle for lethal injections?
You know that indestructible black box that is used on
airplanes? Why don't they make
the entire plane out of that stuff?
Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together?
If con is the opposite of pro... is Congress the opposite of
progress?
If flying is so safe, why do they call the airport the terminal?

Good observations and questions. Canadians do the same things. I wonder now about other countries.
ReplyDeleteThese are some fun and interesting observations!

I like the one about politicians - I think that's universal!
ReplyDeleteThose are funny and make perfect sense!
ReplyDeleteYou have stimulated my brain this day. Thanks Kay.
ReplyDeleteSome really good ones, especially in the Only In America section. For a time, there used to be a boutique producer of hotdogs, made from actual meats and not leftover trimmings. They sold them in packages of eight too! But they usually were bought out fast and mostly out of stock at our grocery store and eventually they disappeared altogether.
ReplyDeleteThese are really great, Kay!
ReplyDeleteGreat post! And it makes sense too! And I am Margie from Margie's Musings...not Anonymous!
ReplyDeletelol, lin floyd says fyi hot dogs do come in packages of 8 so you don't have extra dogs...
ReplyDeleteI loved all of these.
ReplyDeleteThanks for making me laugh this morning, :-)
ReplyDeleteThese are great!
ReplyDeleteI love the idiosyncrasies of language. The illogic of some of our traditions is startling--like the hot dog and bun issue. Perhaps it's actually a ploy to get us to buy more buns?
ReplyDeleteThese are good ones!
ReplyDeleteThank you. You made me laugh!
ReplyDeleteFun! Enjoyed these. There's some of our speech that doesn't make sense.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! And there is an element of truth in every one of them... Thanks for the smiles, Kay.
ReplyDeleteThat is quite the collection!
ReplyDeleteOne year in office, one year in prison seems like a good idea to me, LOL.
ReplyDeleteSo very true - all of them. Have seen some of these before. A good laugh for some and a exasperated sigh for others.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chuckle. And ... why do flammable and inflammable mean the same thing?
ReplyDeleteKay of Musings: 😂
DeleteThanks for the good chuckle!
ReplyDeleteMakes ya wonder
