The morning after our return to Hawaii, we got a call from Tiffany saying, "Mom and Dad, you left two days too early!"
It seems the warmer Chicago weather finally convinced a multitude of cicadas to emerge from the ground, leave their exoskeletons behind and begin their month of mating.
I really don't think there was this many cicadas in our yard 17 years ago.
Wow!
I asked KC if she would put one on her leg like we did 17 years ago when she was almost a year old so I could add it to my album.
Ummm... looks like it's a no. 😂

Neither the cicadas nor the baking look particularly appealing to me on this early morning. 😇
ReplyDeleteI love cicadas. We have annual ones here but not in great numbers and then the Iowa brood which does come out in enormous numbers every 17 years but we still have 7 more years for their return.
ReplyDeleteOn the cookies, the silk screened cicada wouldn’t bother me but the sprinkles would. I would rather have mine plain or frosted.
Cicadas emerging - interesting. Those sprinkled cookie - not appealing. And speaking of Cicadas... we saw a dead one on our driveway yesterday... and not the shell. He was green.

ReplyDeleteToo funny. If I still worked in an office I would pick those up for morning coffee break. I worked for an agricultural agency and they would have been a hit.
ReplyDeleteWe have avoided the cicadas in our area this go round. Thank goodness. They drive me nuts.
