You'll probably realize now that I didn't have anything to post for today so I'm just going to share something with you that my friend, Myra introduced me to a week ago.
We always meet up with Myra and her husband for tai chi. When we arrived at their house, Myra handed me a cough drop. She said she likes to carry a couple in case she needs to cough during our sessions. I stuck the cough drop in my pocket and we walked to the park to begin our lessons.
Midway through, I decided to try it. So there I am going through the movements when my throat and sinuses suddenly felt open, cool, fresh... oh gee... hard to explain. It was great!
So then, the following day I'm walking with my friend, Diane and I mentioned it to her. Wouldn't you know she just pulled one out of her fanny pack and showed it to me? Am I the last one to try this thing?
I mentioned it to Art and he says he'd like to try it too since he often has a little cough, but he wants the sugar free version.
Have you ever tried this?
POSTSCRIPT: Aha! We found the sugar free version at Walmart.

Yes! I keep them on hand in the house but don't take them with me. It helps the stuffy nose once in a while. My husband has end stage COPD and once in a while I get him to take one and he says it really opens things up for a bit!
ReplyDeleteWe used to do Tai Chi at the VA and I loved it.
Do they have menthol in them? That works well.
ReplyDeleteIt definitely has menthol. It must have a lot of it.
DeleteWell, that is something to post, not nothing. Those 15 minutes could help a lot, like in an exercise class.
ReplyDeleteNot that brand but we have used those over the years from a different brand.
ReplyDeleteI really find that when my sinuses are a problem, using good old fashioned vicks vaporub helps quite a bit. So does a nice dollop of wasabi, actually! Appropos to absolutely nothing, though, have you heard of 'soup drops'? Progresso soup has rolled out a chicken noodle soup flavored candy.
ReplyDeleteI don't often use cough drops, sugar free is a great alternative!
ReplyDeleteGood to know! I wonder what makes it work so well.
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of them! I'm like Christine in that I rarely use cough drops but if I do have a cough, I'm a huge whiner!
ReplyDeleteWow great info. I too have COPD and if it can open me up for a short while, I'll take it. GREAT INFO! Thanks. BB
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Art has COPD too. I made an appointment for him. I hope you like the VapoCool but like Art says, it doesn't last long and the cough drops are pretty small.
DeleteNever heard of this but then I don't do tai chi either.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great find! So far I've not had a cold... this season.
ReplyDeleteThis is some great information! I can always count on you to pass along some interesting and helpful facts. Wishing you well, dear friend!
ReplyDeleteThank you for coming by my post and for taking the time to leave a nice comment. I really appreciate it.
Love the little things!
ReplyDeleteI like the Hall's cherry cough drop. yep, same stuff with menthol in it. If I feel a plain cold coming on, I'll take ColdEzze zinc drops. Those make food taste like metal for a few days. Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteGood tip. Will passit on.
ReplyDeleteKay, I have a chronic cough... they've called it a radiation cough over the years... but not sure if that actually is it. However, I use Luden's cherry cough drops. Carry them everywhere with me. Stops the cough. DH uses Hall's when needed... but not needed often.
ReplyDeleteGood they do a sugar free version ... I think menthol helps quite a bit.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
I had sinus issues recently.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
