OK, you don't have to imagine this...
But there I was sitting on the toilet at 4:00 in the morning. After I did my business, I pressed the button on the remote control to start the bidet.
It started up just fine. We've had this Toto bidet for many years and it never gave us any trouble. (Oops! I just noticed I labeled the remote control wrong. It should have been Toto Remote Control.)
BUT, then when I tried to STOP it, ALL the lights on the remote control started blinking madly!
Acccck! I pressed the STOP again. Nope. The lights kept blinking and the water kept shooting up to my nether regions. Aggghhhh! I pressed all the buttons and then the STOP button. Nope. Still kept shooting water. 😲
So then I thought... maybe if I stood up, it would stop shooting. Nope. It just shot up my back.
Arrrghhh... 😖
I had to call Art. I called out softly. No answer. I called a little more loudly. No answer.
"Arrrrrtttt!" I yelled.
I heard a sleepy, "Oh no... Are you getting vertigo?" And then he came rushing into the bathroom.
I told him the problem knowing my nether regions were now the cleanest it has been in a gazillion years.
He calmly turned off the electrical outlet by pressing the black TEST button.
I was envisioning having to go and buy another bidet for the toilet which was not going to be fun.
However, he just changed the battery on the remote control later in the morning and pressed the red RESET button and it works fine now. 😏
It really helps to have an electrical engineer in the house. 😄

I agree. Having your own electrical engineer and techy expert is worth its weight in gold.
ReplyDeleteAnd the fee for a 4 a.m. plumber call would have been horrid. So, does that adventure count as a shower? I have one of those outlets. It doesn't like my blow dryer sometimes. Glad it was easily fixed by handy Mr. Art! Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteAhh, Art understands the art of home maintenance.
ReplyDeleteOf course these things like to attack when we are half awake and most vulnerable. We have a newish Toto bidet and I will keep the battery in the remote in mind if anything goes wonky. So far we love it!

Over the years we have learned that Art is a man of many talents.
ReplyDeleteOne of these days, I would like to replace a couple of our toilets with one of those things. We had a bidet seat attachment on one of ours for a number of years but it wasn't sized right and impossible to find fittings for to connect it to our water system when I had to replace a valve and so it disappeared. But it was nice having that during the toilet paper crisis of 2020. Unlike many of our peers, we weren't worried at all.
ReplyDeleteA bit too much information?
ReplyDeleteWell, of course, being a visual person, I did imagine it, but not TOO graphically. A funny not funny episode.
ReplyDeleteLOL!!!! How did you ever fall back to sleep after all that excitement????
ReplyDeleteGreat to have Art to help like that I would be the same.
ReplyDeleteI have never used a bidet, but I can imagine it. Thank goodness for husbands who can fix that stuff. I am laughing, though, because the grandkid's cat, that causes havoc everywhere, is called Toto.
ReplyDeleteI love this story. I can so see myself in this position. My go-to is panic. My husband's go-to is solution. It would have never occurred to be to press that button.
ReplyDeleteLOL! I can just imagine you panicking on the toilet and getting up and having the water shoot. There was an incident on "Boys Over Flowers" (Korean drama classic) when the poor girl went to the rich boy's house and tried out a bidet for the first time. VERY funny!
ReplyDeleteEveryone seems to have a funny toilet story. Water shooting all over the place would not be good. I've learned to press that little button under the outlets to reset the plug. Not sure if I would have thought of it in the circumstances.
ReplyDeleteAh, yes, an engineer in the family is very nice to have.
ReplyDeleteActually, if you were pretty wet, with any water in the floor, it probably wouldn't have been a good idea to touch that little button on the electrical outlet. Just thinking. Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteWhoa... I never thought of that.
DeleteSorry, but your story had me laughing out loud.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't know how to stop it. Keep that man around.
ReplyDeleteThat would cause a little stress!
ReplyDeleteI love my very basic bidets, no control to go haywire though. A funny story though, unless you're living it! :) Glad Art could quickly resolve the problem.
ReplyDeleteI've never used a bidet but it does sound like you have the cleanest tush around! Fun story with a good ending.
ReplyDeleteI also have never used a bidet... and not too sure about them (especially after your experience). And do you need a remote for a bidet?
ReplyDeleteThere are many different kinds of bidet attachments for your toilet. You can even buy them at Costco. Some have the controls attached to the seat. This one was to be mounted on the wall.
DeleteBest wishes for new year dear Kay ❤️
ReplyDeleteMy wife bought a seat with a built-in bidet but I could never figure out how to install the thing for the bidet to work
ReplyDeleteIt's so good that you have your own electrical engineer :)
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Well done Art!
ReplyDeleteOur kids have two bidets at their house. I'd love one, but we don't have an electricity source in our old bathroom!
