I use glass containers to hold lemonade and coffee. The reason for the coffee is Art prepares a lot of fresh morning coffee which he enjoys and then stores the rest of it in the glass container for me to use the following mornings for my mocha. My mocha is just really cold coffee with a little chocolate milk. 😊
I can't remember where I bought our first glass container which we have used for coffee and worked great. However, I then bought 2 more when I started making lemonade.
However, at our belated Thanksgiving party with our extended family, I had Art make extra DEcaffeinated coffee for my nephews and wives who like having my mocha also. I didn't want caffeine to keep them up that night. He prepared the decaf coffee early and put them in my newer glass container.
Anyway, that evening... while pouring the coffee, the coffee kept spilling over which made a bit of a mess. I couldn't believe it. I had to pour the coffee over the sink so I wouldn't spill it over the counter.
The following morning, I checked the container to figure out what went wrong. The old container is on the left.
I have used the newer container for lemonade, but I must have been more careful since I was just pouring for myself. I was rushing more at the party since I was making five drinks.
I looked at the bottom of the container to see if they were both from the US since I've been burned before with Pyrex that was made in China instead of the US.
I couldn't believe it!
The old water container was from France!
The two new ones I bought were made in the US by Anchor.
You can see the spouts a little better here to see why the French water container is better for pouring liquids.
Ah well... I shall just have to remember to pour the US. container over the sink from now on.

You got that figured out. 👍
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you're a careful person and it won't be an issue in everyday life.
ReplyDeleteSimple experience, but a useful lesson learned
ReplyDeleteBut why is the US version even made with such a small spout, considering it's MADE for things to be poured from? I have the same issue with a pair of glass measuring cup - the smaller version, made in France also, has a serviceable spout. The larger one has a tiny spout that just dribbles down the side instead of pouring.
ReplyDeleteYour mocha sounds tasty!

Kay of Musings: I agree. The Anchor measuring cups have a much better spout like the French one so I don’t know why these water containers are so bad.
DeleteThat spout makes such a difference. I had the same problem with mazola oil containers spilling vs another brand. I complained and they sent me a coupon that's it. -Christine cmlk79.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteHmmm.I wonder if Anchor is using an old mold that has lost itd definition?
ReplyDeleteI do wonder whether a spout made to be poured would be so insuffcient. Interesting discovery there.
ReplyDeleteI have to be very careful pouring with my coffee pot. If I'm in a hurry it can be a big mess.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting. I'll keep my eye open for the French bottle. I do have one from Daiso that is probably made in China so I will see how that one pours.
ReplyDeleteI find that old things work better and are designed more intelligently than many new ones. Do I sound like an elderly curmudgeon? :)
ReplyDeleteI love all my old things. They just feel and fit better. My coffee pot spills like that. Very annoying.
ReplyDeleteI never have thought to look at anything like that! Pretty intersesting!
ReplyDeleteInteresting discovery there.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
You need to do your research, I guess!
