We had the breakfast buffet at the California hotel at 8:00 and packed up all our things.
We went next door to the Main Street Casino and saw a lot of the antique furnishings. It was interesting.
When we were in the elevator a fellow looked at us and said, "You must have won big because you're all smiling."
We told him we hadn't gambled at all and asked how he did. He smiled ruefully and said, "I'm just keeping Vegas prosperous."
Our daughter, Tiffany had mentioned the Venetian gondola rides so we had to stop by and see what it was all about.
Mom loved listening to all the music.
She was shocked when we told her that the skies were painted and not real.
We were just in time to catch this free performance.
And then it was time to head for the airport.
It still boggled my mind to see the pyramid and Sphinx.
Mom said she didn't need the wheelchair and could walk.
Here's proof that Hawaiian does still provide food and they are an on time airline.
Our check in luggage was waiting for us, thank goodness!
When I returned home I found two more clearer photos of our missing luggage and sent them to American Airlines in Texas and Las Vegas' baggage claim along with ALL our contact information and address.
Four days after our return home, our missing carry-on arrived via Fed-Ex. It had a lot of stories to tell. The bag had somehow gone to Irving, Texas to Fort Worth, Texas to Memphis, Tennessee to Honolulu. It didn't tell us how it got from Honolulu to Texas in the first place though. It was also missing our TSA lock that we know we had on and that luggage tag with my email was cut off. Other than that, everything seemed to be there.
And so ended the saga of our trip to the canyons.
We're working on the trip album for mom now. Our luggage mishap will have a small place in the narration of our travel. We'll be highlighting all the beautiful places, the kind people, the delicious food and definitely all the gorgeous wildflowers that mom loved.
That is what needs to be remembered.
