Art is working on putting down the Wilsonart wood laminates on the steps now.

My mom just couldn't stand having "untidy, dirty looking bare stairs which she couldn't mop for two years so while we were in Illinois, she got my brother to paint the steps. At the time we thought it was awfully nice of him to do this for her so she wouldn't have to look at unfinished wood. (Yes, yes, now you know. She is a bit obsessive compulsive when it comes to cleanliness.)
However...
Art just discovered that the Wilsonart steps have to be glued onto the BARE wood! Sigh...
One step forward, two steps back! We've had to find the best way to remove the paint. We didn't want to use a stripper so Art ended up getting a couple of different kinds of grinders to remove the paint so that the glue could adhere to the wood surface.

He's just finished gluing down 4 steps and we're liking the looks of it. (Not to worry. The screw holes will be patched and painted later.)

Four down, 18 more steps to go!
