Now that I've read some of the directions in the Instruction Manual for my new camera I've learned that I wasn't doing the macro properly. So my camera isn't really defective. It was me all along. What can I say? It still takes a steady hand though and maybe I need to read the manual more thoroughly but every time I start reading, it puts me to sleep!
I just wandered around our minuscule yard taking macro photos of my mother's flowers. I haven't a clue to the flower's name. It's pretty and a lot of neighbors have it but I don't know what it is. Quilly has just told me that this is a Desert Rose. Thanks, Quilly!
This is an orchid. I have no idea if it's a cymbidium, dendrobium or what. I do know its buds are what bulbuls consider their dessert.
On the plus side, I don't think I'll get insomnia anymore. I just have to pick up the instruction manual. I haven't even begun to tackle the Prius Navigation System manual yet. Gee... It's making me sleepy just to think of it!
Kay, You've done a great job learning the macro feature on your camera. When I opened your blog I had to grin. If you want to know the name of that pretty pink flower just come by my place, I posted about them!
ReplyDeleteNow I know why my long anticipated orchid blossoms never came to be. One day there were gorgeous fat buds and the next day only shredded stems. Darn Bulbuls!
Solution: Have your hubby read the manual and explain and demonstrate it to you. That's the secret to operating anything in the Hinchey home!
ReplyDeleteWhat pretty pictures, you're going to have fun with that aspect of your camera, even if you never get past the first few words of the rest of the manual. What are bulbuls (I thought they were something in Star Wars!)

You have done a marvelous job with macro. The flowers are very pretty. I use macro alot myself. As for figuring out a GPS system...ha! I can barely figure out an old-fashioned fold-up map!

Those are wonderful macros Kay. If you want you could get a mono-pod- one legged tripod that would let you steady the camera even more if you want. Not that you photos are shaky because they aren't... Michelle
ReplyDeleteMichelle: I'll bet that would help because I do have shaky hands. I sometimes have to prop the camera onto something in low light.
