Oh Brother!

My deadline is rapidly approaching to get my mom and her family's chronicle printed. My Canon color printer is beginning to act up. It's about 10 years old and still does a good job when it's working. I'm going to print the pages and then copy them at Kinko's or what used to be Kinko's(for the aunts and uncle).

My daughter-in-law-in-spirit who used to be a journalist-editor up until a few months ago is now doing the story editing for me. She is an exceptional writer so I'm really grateful that she's willing to do this despite her heavy schedule now as a government director.

My daughter has already done the first proof of the photo album text and my brother and sister-in-law are doing the 2nd proof. My brother is so meticulous(about the photos) that it's making me laugh if not driving me crazy.

It reminds me of my childhood. Our relationship hasn't changed after all these years. Art says he heard me talking to Dennis on the phone and that I was being very bossy telling him to hurry up with the title page/book cover artwork already. ...and hurry up with the editing of the photo album so I can start printing. Dennis however, is determined that the photos are the best they can be and I'm at the point of being more quick and dirty because of the time factor. So I may be bossy but who gets his way all the time? I'm grumping at him and he just chuckles and says, "Nope. You have to do that one over."
"I did it already," I argue.
"No, I don't think you did."
"I did, I did," I'm not really raising my voice. Never mind that Art heard me.
"Nope, don't think so." I can almost see him smiling.

And that's how it was when we were kids. I could gripe at him forever but if he had his mind made up to do something one way he would do it that way no matter what I said. I could call him stubborn but somebody else would call it determined. He is also the most forgiving and loyal person around which is a good thing since sometimes I am a teeny tiny bit bossy.

So after all my grumping at him, a half hour later he sends me THE most INCREDIBLE book cover overflowing with detail and symbolism! Totally blew me away. Of course this means he's been thinking about this cover for a long time because there's no way anybody could have come up with something like this in such a short time. Oh brother! He really is something!
