I told KC that her Uncle Jonny's favorite book used to be Panda Cake by Rosalie Seidler. She asked me to read it to her and then asked me to read it again. I heard her asking Art to read it again later.
I never could quite understand why Jon liked it so much. Was it because the older brother ends up in trouble and the little brother gets to have the panda cake? Was it because of the fun rhymes? Perhaps it's the cute pictures. I don't know.
What made it all the more fun for KC was the title page. There at the top, written clearly in pencil were the words Name Tiffany Room 107 Age 7 in her mother's 2nd grade handwriting.
I'm so glad to hear that you had such a wonderful time with your family visiting, though you must be feeling rather flat now, with the house so quiet. Never mind, you'll soon be skyping again, and you'll just have to get Art busying himself on the noisy DIY to fill up the house.

ReplyDeleteIsn't it wonderful how children love to have an adult read to them? My youngest brother's children, Julia and Jonathan, are 9 and 7, and they still want Auntie Kay to read to them. I'll see them in February and can hardly wait!

ReplyDeleteWe still have old books around with our kids names in them. Our grandchildren love knowing about their mother and uncle when they were growing up in this house.
