I changed the design of my blog. Then I wasn't sure if I liked it. So I asked my daughter what she thought of it. She said she liked the way I had it before.Doggone it!
Then I couldn't figure out how to get it back because once you change it, that's it. I didn't know how to find the old templates. I went to the HELP site and found this answer:
"You can get to the older Blogger templates by going to your "Design" (Arrange Page Elements) page and clicking on the "Edit HTML" link. When the HTML page opens, scroll down to the bottom of the page and you will see the links to get back to the old templates. Choose the "Layout" templates rather than the "Classic" ones, or you will be very limited as to what features will work on your blog. I hope this helps."
Once I got back to the old template site, I couldn't remember which one it was. Sigh... Sooo... I'm trying this one out to see how I like it until I have more time to experiment. I'm looking for the one that will make me feel like it's home.
I had another blog where I did my experimentation. This is what I get for not being more careful. I should also have saved the old blog template "html" before I made the permanent change to something I might not like as much. I guess I'll have to work on getting my blog back to normal in the next few days.
POSTSCRIPT: There! I think I've got it alllllmost back to where I was before I started tampering with tried and true.
I've erased an entire site when I was formerly on TypePad. Thought me to always experiment on a practice blog (non-viewable to the public).
ReplyDeleteI kinda like this one :-)
ReplyDeletegood morning Kay~ i like this one too. but, i understand about wanting things to feel more like home. good luck with finding the blog look that makes you happiest. have a great day.
ReplyDeleteOh can I understand this! I would certainly love to spiff up my blog, but I'm no pro at this stuff and while it's not the most eye-catching blog on the web, it's mine and that's that. I am sure you will be where you want to be in no time. I always love the pictures you choose to display. Makes one feel like you're right there. Hope you're having a great day, Kay!!
ReplyDeleteWell, I liked your other one better but there are so many choices don't give up. Experiment and you'll probably find something you love. Try cutestblogontheblock that's where I found my background...good luck!
ReplyDeleteThat's the good thing about Blogspot -- there are so many themes you can work with. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteIt is a comfort level thing -- the blog is home, so it needs to feel like home. Remember you live there. The rest of us come to visit YOU. Make yourself comfy and we'll adjust.
ReplyDeleteBlogging templates are a pet peeve of mine. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteKay, I think you blog looks fine! I did change up my blog a little while ago and I love it now!! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI did just that thing the other week, oops! Don't worry, you'll get everything bck to normal!
ReplyDeleteI made a major change in my template once. I'm very wary of fooling around with the design. Simple is best, I think, and so I just stay within my modest abilities and don't experiment much.
ReplyDeleteoh good luck with all this Kay, my motto is if it ain't broke don't fix it! Maybe that's why my blog is boring, it never changes!
ReplyDeleteI like the look of this one (and the last one). It's fun to make changes, but I'm afraid to mess with mine for fear of losing everything. I'm not very "tech-y" and lack many skills (anything html).
ReplyDeleteFixing up my blog is only one of a couple dozen projects that are on a longggggg list. Glad you were able to get things back together.
ReplyDeleteI've thought about changing my template but I'm a terrible one for change. I have often said it takes someone to shoot me out of a cannon to get out of my comfort zone, it's true. Love your header photo and it's neat how you have turned it into a painting. I also wanted to thank you for your sweet comments on my blog, and also to thank Art for his compliment.
ReplyDeleteI had the same problem you did. It was awful. Then when I went to change the picture at the top of my blog, everything was changed again. This last week, I spent half an hour in total confusion trying to change the type size. I still don't have the titles of each entry as big as I would like, but I am afraid to touch it again.
ReplyDeleteYour type size is a little gigantic, but other than that you are almost back.
I totally messed mine up about a year ago....the header was all HTMLy. I had to get lots of help to get it fixed. It sounds like you know what you are doing.
ReplyDeleteYou are a lot braver than I am. I would be scared to try to change my template, having no one (on the same continent, anyway) to help me fix it.
ReplyDeleteWe will be happy with whatever you give us, Kay.
I know nothing about templates etc. but it reminded me of the saying 'If it ain't broke don't fix it'..Just thinking of you and love your musings any which way.
ReplyDeleteVera
I think it looks great and I think it's back to the way it was. Love the header...I practice on another blog before I change mine and you can do a preview first on wordpress...
