Last August we hosted a party for all the friends we'd made while on our tour of China.
We loved getting together with our fabulous China tour group.
One couple, Gerald and Eva brought us a lucky bamboo hostess gift.
We'd received one before and it soon grew so big that we had to take it outside. After a while it died.
We expected the same thing to happen again, but would enjoy it while it lasted.

It sits above our kitchen sink and welcomes us every morning. I've discovered that I can just spray a stream of water into the pot filled with pebbles and then drain it out. The roots are still moist, but it doesn't sit in water.
The amazing thing is that it hasn't grown in six months! It has stayed at that curtain bar height. How weird and wonderful is that? Looks like I've got a bonsai plant before Art has even started his.
How delightful. I have to try spraying my two indoor bonsai's too.

DeleteThe little lucky bamboo in my office is struggling right now. Perhaps we are over-watering, from what you say. I'll try it for a while with just a dash of moisture.

ReplyDeleteI've never tried that kind of bamboo but I do have heavenly bamboo growing in the backyard and it thrives on minimum water.

Yours looks great. I was given one some time ago, but it did not last. When we went to the botanical garden, we were told that the bamboo made its full height in one year and then just grew in diameter. I guess that is the case for just that particular type of bamboo. Or maybe it isn't true at all?
