Last August we hosted a party for all the friends we'd made while on our tour of China.
We loved getting together with our fabulous China tour group.
One couple, Gerald and Eva brought us a lucky bamboo hostess gift.
We'd received one before and it soon grew so big that we had to take it outside. After a while it died.
We expected the same thing to happen again, but would enjoy it while it lasted.

It sits above our kitchen sink and welcomes us every morning. I've discovered that I can just spray a stream of water into the pot filled with pebbles and then drain it out. The roots are still moist, but it doesn't sit in water.
The amazing thing is that it hasn't grown in six months! It has stayed at that curtain bar height. How weird and wonderful is that? Looks like I've got a bonsai plant before Art has even started his.

How delightful. I have to try spraying my two indoor bonsai's too.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like your Bamboo is happy where it is and wants to stay there. It looks very healthy in the picture.
ReplyDeleteThe bamboo is lovely My daughter-in-law gave me a bamboo plant when Sam died and it is amazing to my how it has grown!!! I love it!! Hope you have a great week, Kay!!
ReplyDeleteReally wonderful post. The bamboo is a tree all the trees are save the world. Trees Planet
ReplyDeletebeautiful!
ReplyDeleteThe bamboo plant is looking so fresh and beautiful..
ReplyDeleteThe pot looks perfect with the bamboo. May it live long and well!
ReplyDeletePretty little plant and I hope you didn't jinx it.
ReplyDeleteThat's a very pretty bamboo. And that looks like green onions next to it.
ReplyDeleteVery nice lucky bamboo you have there. Do you want it to stay like this forever or do you want it to grow bigger?
ReplyDeleteI do hope it stays this size forever if I can manage it.
DeleteWow your bamboo is very high and nice. Take care of it.
ReplyDeleteI have one of those in the same location that is 8 years old. I keep having to trim it as it keeps growing.
ReplyDeleteI love that pot! Did you get it with the plant?
ReplyDeleteYes, and I love it.
DeleteThe little lucky bamboo in my office is struggling right now. Perhaps we are over-watering, from what you say. I'll try it for a while with just a dash of moisture.
ReplyDeleteYou might give it a teeny bit more though, Dick because it''s a lot more himid in Hawaii than the Midwest.
DeleteI hope it continues to thrive. I've seen these little bamboo plants for sale but have never purchased one. Now I'm thinking I should try one. :-)
ReplyDeleteI have one of those, it was a gift and has done well for years.
ReplyDeleteI've never tried that kind of bamboo but I do have heavenly bamboo growing in the backyard and it thrives on minimum water.
ReplyDeleteenjoy it for many years!

Yours looks great. I was given one some time ago, but it did not last. When we went to the botanical garden, we were told that the bamboo made its full height in one year and then just grew in diameter. I guess that is the case for just that particular type of bamboo. Or maybe it isn't true at all?
ReplyDeletehow fun, I'm very good at killing all kinds of house plants...lol!
ReplyDeletenever had one myself, but I do like them
ReplyDeleteIt looks lovely and how nice that you will be able to enjoy it inside for a while longer.
ReplyDeleteBravo Bonsai:)
