Starting Again

Cyber friend, Hank Chapin wrote this comment on my post about having to take a blog hiatus.

"Hope you don't lose your rhythm."

I see now what he was talking about.  My brain and daily schedule reorganized themselves so that I found it hard to get back to blogging.  Granted I ended up with too many things on my plate to get started.... the hurricane for one.

Our son and partner stayed two weeks and our daughter and family left a week ago, the day before we started getting reports about Hurricane Iselle.  The myriad things we didn't do while our family was here for five weeks had to be done.

I'll now be working on posts about our Hokkaido trip and our family get-together.  I feel like I'm running a race with different side streets that take me off course.

Oops!  Just went off course again while looking for a photo to add to this post.  This is KC with her Uncle Keola on Waikiki Beach. We're missing them all dreadfully.

Sigh... That's OK.  Just let me catch my rhythm again and I'll get to the finish line yet.

  1. Oh Kay, KC is all grown up. How time flies. Yes it is great to have a blogging break but as I know the weeks just go and before you know it, it turns into months. It is hard to get back into it when you have stopped for a while. Family time is more important though and you never get that time back. Great you had your kids with you for a holiday.

  3. I've never been away for 5 weeks. Just a couple of weeks and it takes me awhile to get back into the rhythm and routine. It will happen. Just let it come naturally. If you are like me, the desire to write will overtake you and you will again be flying across the page.

    1. Julio went far north of us so we are in the clear. The Puna district of the Big Island was hit hard though so they're not expected to get power back for a week. The people there weren't able to vote in the Primary Election on Saturday. Because the results of the Senate race is so close, about 1,600 votes apart, the outcome is now dependent on those residents. I would suggest to some politicians that they get themselves out there and help those poor people!

  9. If you didn't have a life to interfere with your blogging, you really would not have anything to blog about so your readers understand. Also you were so good about it (as well as at it) that it could make some of us feel inadequate. :-)

  10. I seem to need to post every weekday, or I lose track of what my life is about. I try to take the weekends off but sometimes post on those days too.

  11. Perhaps it's time to re-evaluate the schedule you set up for yourself and see if maybe something else would work better. I know once I decided to write every Sunday morning on my Eye blog, it took its own shape. And I now write three times a week on my other one. It works for me. At one time I wrote almost daily on DJan-ity. I cannot imagine how I worked that into my busy life! :-)

  12. I use to write a daily blog and it can get like work. Just post when the urge hits, be it daily, weekly or monthly. You will find your comfort zone and thanks to readers, we will know when you do.

  14. I understand about the rhythm, I spend perhaps too much time on mine. Typically the same hours of a day, and if I changed the flow it does cause some unneeded but mild-anxiety.

  16. Blogging daily is not a requirement. ENJOYING blogging while you share your life with others is. We have no problem waiting for your treasured posts.

  19. Gosh, what a nice beach scene, but yes, when did your granddaughter grow up so much? Life is more important to live while you have the chance for all concerned. Get around to blogging when you want. But, yep, we look forward to it. DrumMajor

    1. Hi DrumMajor... I'm taking a cleansing breath right now. It felt surreal after the hurricane passed Oahu by. I don't know how to explain the feeling of reprieve. Everything looked normal outside and yet I was imagining what could have been. Now I'm trying to get my brain back to normal again with the usual chores and exercise I wasn't doing.

  24. It has taken me awhile to learn this ---but I 'think' I have finally learned to just go with the flow when it comes to Blogging... I am trying not to stress over it as much --and so far, that is working... I love Blogging --and will continue to do it as long as it is FUN....

My advice to you is to just blog when you can --and don't worry about it when you are busy doing other things. Glad those hurricanes didn't give you a direct hit...

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  25. Kay, blogging should never feel like a chore. And honestly, blogging most certainly does not have to be done every day! I blog once per week :)

I really LOVE hearing from you! However, if you sign in as ANONYMOUS, please don't forget to tell me who you are in the comment box by just writing your first name. We would all appreciate it if you kept your comment respectful and kind.

I'm sorry to have to do this, but again... sigh... it's the spam that's driving me crazy.
