Back in Illinois there was a wall in the closet where we charted our children's growth throughout the years.
Now we're got our Satsuma tangerine tree.
Looks like it's been almost two years now since we got the tree from Home Depot and planted it.
Our baby tree has sure grown, but it is still a juvenile and has not shown any signs of blooming. Like my son, it is now taller than I am.
I'm really waiting for the time when I can post about our first tangerine... and it better be a sweet fruit for all the care and love we've given it.

That is a lot of growth for two years, if you ask me! I hope one day to see that fruit in your hand. :-)
ReplyDeleteGood luck and best wishes!
ReplyDeleteWe did the same thing with our kids!! What a cool way to document this beautiful tree and its growth. A great idea!!
ReplyDeleteWow, it has really grown a lot. Hope you will get your sweet tangerine soon. :)
ReplyDeleteIt really is a kid. Hope it's not 16 years to a tangerine license.
ReplyDeleteYou never know how your teenagers will turn out...
ReplyDeleteWOW! It has grown so much!! Terrific! I hope you get some great tangerines soon, too!! Have a great weekend, Kay!!
ReplyDeletethats amazing! I love that you documented the growth,
ReplyDeleteOh Laurie, I'm so sorry that you lost your blog. We are all going to miss seeing you. I'm so glad I can still hear from you here though.
DeleteLet's hope I can document some fruit some day.
Soon, Feb. 3-4, is the Jewish holiday Tu BiShvat, the new year or "birthday" of trees. You can celebrate your tangerine tree!
ReplyDeleteWow it grows relatively fast! How neat to have those photos.
ReplyDeleteEither the tree is growing or you've shrunk. Does it get plenty of sun?
ReplyDeleteOh yes, it gets lots of morning sun. I keep looking for a bud, but so far no sign at all.
DeleteThe tree is really growing, for sure. And who is that pretty lady in the pictures? Thanks for sharing, and I hope you get a tangerine soon. Do you know if it is male or female and if there is an opposite near by. Some plants need that to produce fruit.
ReplyDeleteAwww... You're so sweet, Linda Kay. I don't know for sure, but I don't think there's a male and female... I think.
DeleteThat is pretty impressive growth. Can't wait for the first tangerine tasting.
ReplyDeletelooks great and healthy.
ReplyDeletethat's why I never cared to have my own fruit tree. A very long wait
ReplyDeletehahaha...maybe you are shrinking and the tree is the same size! i sure hope you get some fruit sometime soon. you are in the right climate for it!
ReplyDeleteSo from the land of snow and ice, I'm saying you should get a tangerine any time soon!!! With such rapid growth I would think you should get tangerines.
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty and graceful tree. We have a fig tree we bought a year ago at the Hilo Farmers' Market. We shared the first fig from it today. It was sweet and delicious.
ReplyDeleteIt started bearing fruit after a year? Wow!
DeleteI would guess that your growing season is year round there. Your photos are a fun way to mark the growth and the passage of time, waiting for fruit!
ReplyDeleteHi Kay. I read about this beautiful Japanese book today and thought of you and your growing trees.

It is great that you guys have charted the tree growth in pictures.
ReplyDeleteIt is fun to see your tangerine tree grow. And to see you and Art standing next to it.
ReplyDeleteFantastic
ReplyDeleteI know that feeling, 'like my son...'!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post.
