We were driving along and was startled to see this big truck pass us by.
I've never seen a Confederate flag flying in Hawaii. I told Art to try getting closer so I could check out where the truck came from because I just couldn't believe it was a kamaaina (local person).
Sure enough.
It was two guys in a truck with a Florida license plate.
It didn't leave me with a good feeling.
What were they trying to tell us?

ReplyDeleteThey're flying the rebel flags out like crazy ever since the Charleston-aftermath. The people who say the flag isn't racist are either lying or in self-denial.
ReplyDeleteMany of them will point out that it's a battle flag and not the flag of the CSA. Then never mention that the CSA flag was redesigned twice with the battle flag obviously placed in both versions.
That flag became really popular during the Civil Rights Movement as a symbol for racists to protest Supreme Court decisions and liberal civil rights bills in Congress. It's not a coincidence the flag popped up out of history after Brown vs the board of education.
And not only the racism thing but it represents an wannabe country of rednecks that spat on democracy and wanted to weaken this great nation.

ReplyDeleteDishwashers: "Finish" dishwasher cleaner. When you take your filter out to rinse it, you might also run a small container of Finish through your machine too. Acids help clean off the buildup....that white stuff, and they leave your machine really clean. You can also run a cup of vinegar through the machine putting the filled cup on the top rack. That acid will clean things up if it isn't really bad at all.
I guess one can be a yahoo wherever they travel..Aloha Kay and Art and Mom fini tooooo..It is nearing 100 here in Vancouver suppose to be 5 to 6 days of over 90's breaking all the records..If I was out and about biking and walking I would have walked up to the those yahoos and asked what they were doing in Paradise with such an ugly flag which in my opinion represents hate and more hate, this world doesn't need hate and in Paradise no less..Oh my goodness sakes alive, why can't people understand peace and love will be the way to have a wonderful life and in Hawaii something the locals give out with their religions, traditions and people..I don't understand why they still make that confederate flag at all..It is just disgusting in my opinion..Sending out peace, joy and love to you and yours always, aloha....X()X()X()

ReplyDeleteIt doesn't surprise me that they're from Florida (that flag can be seen everywhere there)...what does surprise me is that there is a truck from mainland U.S. in Hawaii! How did they get it there?
Art said it was probably a military person because they're the only ones allowed to retain their mainland license plates in Hawaii. He said he'd also venture to guess that it wouldn't be well received on base.
