While traveling between Chicago and Washington, D.C. this summer I heard my daughter use the expression, "Awesomesauce!" when she saw something that amazed her. I thought it was something she just made up, but no... I looked it up on the Urban Dictionary and found the definition was "more awesome than awesome."
Then as I was walking around Hershey, Pennsylvania, I saw a man wearing a t-shirt that said, "Holy Todelo!" OK I've heard that one before. I think Danny Thomas used to say it all the time.
We started to think of other phrases used to express amazement.
Here's some we use:
Holy cow! Wow! Dang! Holy Smokes! Good grief! Holy mackerel! Oh my! Gosh! Hot damn! By golly! Far out! Son-of-a-gun! Whoa!

ReplyDeleteI too thought Awesomesauce was made up for the commercial but that is how some sayings get going these days. I say cool--drawn out version--way too much.

ReplyDeleteI've lived in Utah about 23 years now (Not LDS) but the words, "Oh my heck!" is used a lot.
ReplyDeleteI still say "Cool" and "Wow!" I try not to say "amazing" because it is so overused. But occasionally something really is amazing!
