About a year ago, we had lunch with Honolulu Aunty in Honolulu. She brought an interesting plant along with a treasure trove of wonderful gifts which we were grateful for and thoroughly enjoyed.
You can see the plant on the table. I think she said the plant was related to the poinsettia.
To be honest, at the time it looked a little bit like a weed. Granted it looked like an interesting and pretty weed.
I planted it as soon as we got home and it slowly started to grow. Honolulu Aunty said it was a hardy plant which is a good thing because I'm a very negligent gardener. Mom, however, watered it and loved it.
I was looking at the plant this evening and was surprised to see how much it had grown.
It's such a lovely, strong, but delicate looking plant.
Hmmm... I wonder what kind of plant it is. I know she told me, but I forgot.
I wonder how big it will grow...

I just got this message from Honolulu Aunty.
It is indeed a Euphorbia, and I got it at Home Depot (or was it Lowe's?) with the name of "Diamond Delight" on the tag.
That's a very pretty delicate looking plant!

I first saw it at my girlfriend's house - she had little cuttings in test tube vases in her bathroom that rooted, which I thought was cool, and I went out and got me a plant. Poor plant. It still hasn't found its place in my garden and looks very scraggly, but it is still alive. I am so happy and impressed at how big and full your little cuttings did - with your Mom's green thumb!
A funny side story about this: my friend just emailed me after reading your blog and asked me for some cuttings! Of course I'll share - though it is a bit embarrassing seeing as how your little ones grew so fantastically and my "parent" plant is so pathetic looking. I'll feed it some fertilizer now. Please say thank you to your Mom for inspiring me!
