Macarons

Jane, a friend of my daughter very generously brought back boxes of macarons from Canada for KC and us while we were in Illinois.

These are not ordinary macarons. They are Laduree macarons. When my son-in-law took our daughter to Paris for her birthday, they brought back Laduree macarons for our granddaughter. It was extremely special because they are extremely expensive.

I took a small bite and let them savor the rest of it because with my lack of taste, the wonder of it is wasted on me.

I'm afraid this was my favorite cookie for the longest time. You can get the package for $5.87 at Walmart.

Gosh... I haven't had one of those in such a long time... before I ended up with diabetes, that is.

Sigh...

What's your favorite cookie?

  1. Beautiful packaging for the Macarons, I will admit I have never eaten one, nor have I eaten your favorite cookie either but my husband would love your fav choice, I know that for sure lol, my favorite cookie is one my Mum always made, a chewy oatmeal coconut cookie, too much butter and sugar to eat everyday but so good! Have the best day Kay!!!

  2. As a Canadian I am not familiar with those. Sorry about your taste issues.

  3. I don't care for packaged cookies, or chocolate, or much of anything. My granddaughter doesn't mind. They get eaten quickly at our house.

  4. I love chocolate chip cookies but rarely allow myself any such indulgence these days. I'm not a fan of coconut in cookies, so I'm not missing out. :-)

  5. Would love to try a Laduree macaron, they sound As if they are from France.

  6. My favorites are my own peanut butter criss crosses. I try not to eat many cookies. They are so unhealthy. I wish I felt the same way about ice cream. That is my weakness.

  7. My favorite cookie has many names - my mother called them "pecan sandies" and always made them for Christmas. Hungarian relatives call them "Vanilias Kifli". I've heard them called Russian Tea cakes and Mexican wedding cookies....I'm not that fond of commercial cookies.

  8. I think I like all homemade cookies... no favorites!!! I keep them in the freezer so that nibbling is kept to a minimum!!

  11. I had never heard of them until The Great British Bake-Off. My daughter was inspired by the show to make them and I haven't tasted anything better! I bought myself a cookbook so I can make them myself. The best!

  12. I have not tasted macarons. At first I thought they were just a French spelling of macaroons, but they are quite different. No coconut. Almond paste instead.
Favorite cookie? too many to decide!

  13. Chocolate or lemon cookies. There's a store near here that's called the Cravory. It makes the best.

  14. Like Honolulu Aunty, Toll House home made chocolate chip, after Girl Scouts Thin Mints! My Mom baked all kinds for Christmas: lemon drops, walnut bourbon balls, mincemeat cookies. Double stuffed Oreos are at Sam's....Linda in Kansas
