When we were visiting our daughter and her family a couple of years ago, I heard Tiffany using the term awesomesauce. She said it was now a commonly used phrase. I'd certainly never heard that phrase used in Hawaii before.
Well... when we were in Maryland last winter I was surprised to see this advertisement when the elevator door to our hotel closed.
I looked up awesome sauce or awesomesauce online and got this from the Urban Dictionary website.
I'm really tempted to use the phrase here in Hawaii, but I'm afraid my friends might think I'm being weird.

Never heard of it. But here in Kansas City, we really do have lots of awesome Barbeque sauce! Maybe consider just using the phrase "awesome." Linda in Kansas

ReplyDeleteI first heard this expression on a credit card commercial and I occasionally hear it used kind of tongue-in-cheek by at least one adult friend. I have not heard it used otherwise. My grandkids don't use it . . . yet.
ReplyDeleteNo, that is news to me too but then, I only learned about "throwing shade" recently! Here's the thing, shade is a VERY good thing in Georgia heat!!
ReplyDeleteOh and meant to say that they used to say BRILLO pads for BRILLIANT in England but hey, that was so 1990's! Also, they used to say PANTS for something bad in England, no idea if they still say that.

ReplyDeleteI have not heard that one....And awesome is not used as much as it was a few years ago, here in northeast Ohio, though still said.

ReplyDeleteI have heard it, I believe it was made famous from a movie/tv show...now I am going to be trying to think of which movie/TV show, and it will probably come to me like at 1am or 2am in the morning..... I can actually see the actress saying it as well ???

ReplyDeleteOne of my daughter's extended family members, a woman about my age, living in Colorado, uses this expression quite often. I have not heard it elsewhere.

Hhhmmm was it the ones where they were identical twins on the phone and one was named "Julie" and the other twin recognized her by that phrase. I've seen it typed but then I don't hang out with kids. I've learned from a local FB page that bad ppl like criminals are called Scrubs here (dunno why). I learn a lot of urban terms from reading various pages on FB-BB

ReplyDeleteFirst heard it on the cc commercial mentioned above. Don't know if I have heard in person or not. I may have just it myself for fun and just forgot it. I say go for it! Use around your friends and see what their reaction is!
