A few years ago, my daughter sent this Baggallini backpack to me as a Christmas gift.
This is not a cheap bag.
I checked online and saw the price.
Well, after a couple of years, I noticed that the leather straps were getting sticky. Weird. I wiped it off.
After another year, I've noticed that the leather skin is flaking! This is so disgusting! It's totally unsightly.
Sigh...
I guess paying more doesn't guarantee a good product.
I see that it's got 4.5 stars, but then again only 3 people have given reviews.

I got the following message from Baggalini.
I guess I know which company I shouldn't buy from next time.

I like the title.
ReplyDeleteAh, but you live in Hawaii...not the best place for leather products, unfortunately. Also some leather needs to be treated annually, and maybe that is the case with this bag. It looks like it could serve you well.
ReplyDeleteMy Coach backpack that's twice as long is still perfectly fine.
DeleteSorry to learn that about that bag. I have loved the looks of many of their bags and use one for my volunteer work. It's cloth so it holds up well. They would have been smart to replace it, but they didn't know who they are working with! :-)
ReplyDeleteYou should write your own review to post. Maybe that would get a bit more attention from the company.
ReplyDeleteOK... Just did it. It's my first time. I don't think I want another bag though.
DeleteIf I were you, I would post my own review at their web site. That might (or might not) cause them to send you a new backpack. Anyhow it might warn off other buyers.
ReplyDeleteI actually wouldn't want another of their bags. If they sent me a new one, I was planning to give it to a friend. I use my Hedgren backpack almost exclusively now. Granted, there's no leather on it.
DeleteHoooowever... I just wrote a review. I think that's the first time I've actually posted a review.
Deletenothing lasts very long any more...
ReplyDeleteIt's my favorite brand. I have a small pouch for everyday and a bigger travel bag. They've served me well. Neither have leather straps though.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry about that. I have a favorite red backpack that's peeling too. It's so dissapointing. Coach uses real leather, but it is stiffer.
ReplyDeleteI have a leather Coach backpack that has lasted twice as long too. I'm going to stick to my Hedgren.
Deleteyou make a good point that price doesn't determine quality.
ReplyDeleteThat was my Bagalinni, too.
ReplyDeleteKind of glad I can't afford one. Think you should do the review also if only to save someone else your disappointment.
ReplyDeleteI know she got that Baggallini on sale. I don't normally buy bags that expensive.
DeleteIt is probably fake leather because leather doesn't behave like that. My favorite bag is one from Walmart - fake suede with a nice style and convenient outer pocket, deep and roomy, but not too wide. At $15 I think I should buy another one.
ReplyDeletebtw, NEVER buy from Just Fashion Now. Beautiful models in wonderful looking natural fiber clothing for bargain prices with discounts added in the more you buy. The shipment takes weeks, and are of inferior fabric and not like the pictures. Return policy is expensive to China, and they return it unopened after months and thus do not refund a single penny. PayPal backs THEM up, so I am steering away from both companies. I will add Bagalinni to my Do Not Check Out list too.
Thank you for the heads up, Aunty.
DeleteThat doesn't act like real leather. I do have a Bagalinni purse that is fabric. they do make some good products with great features, but they are also costly.
ReplyDeletePretty shabby. I guess one has to actually look at the product.
ReplyDeleteWell jeepers. Ok, besides my always saying, "drink water,"
ReplyDeletealso, "buy L.L.Bean."
Everything I've bought from them still looks like new.: 36+ year old knee high padded snow boots, my son's kindergarten back pack (25 years,) a long down winter coat, my nursing backpack, purses, tush-length heavy winter coat, canvas tote bags. I love them. Got my son and his wife coats from there, too. I want to win a visit and trip to their store in Maine! Linda in Kansas
I do really like L.L. Bean, when I can afford it. :- )
DeleteWell that reply was short sharp and to the point - and I suppose the point is that you won't be dealing with them again.
ReplyDeleteSomeone else remarked about it possibly being fake leather - true leather doesn't age like that so if it was actually described as having leather straps they (the company) could be guilty of false advertising. Food for thought!
Take care
Cathy
This is interesting! I wasn't aware of this brand before reading this informative review. I'm a TOTAL cheapskate. Thanks for sharing this with us.
