Skinny Wallet

For a couple of years now, my trusty wallet had been slowly deteriorating.

It's rather large and perhaps a little heavy. And it's stuffed with cards and too much change.

The edges of the wallet had started to peel off. Gee, I thought it was all leather. I guess not.

Then I saw this teal wallet on Amazon called the Big Skinny earlier this summer. The write up assured readers that the skinny wallet could hold everything our normal wallets contained.

My son-in-law looked at my old wallet and then the skinny wallet when it arrived and said, "No way."

And there it is! It actually did all fit into the skinny wallet although I took out some of the accumulated change from my old wallet which I didn't need.

I'm amazed and very pleased. My bag is lighter and flatter now. Yay!

I just checked Amazon and see that the price has gone up. I bought this teal one on sale for $17.97 a couple months ago. It's now all $26.95. Good grief!

Ah well... Fingers crossed that this wallet will last a long, long time.

  1. I have a wallet that matches a Vera Bradley purse. I like it a lot but it does weigh a bit. For travel to Spain next month I have a purse that is constructed to avoid purse snatching by slashing and skimming your card data. It has slots for the few cards I'll be taking along and lots of zip pockets with fasteners to avoid someone unzipping. It makes for much lighter travel for sure.

    1. I was talking about this post with my zumba buddies and several of them have the Vera Bradley wallets because we have an outlet on the island. They all love their wallets.

  2. I have wallet from Vera Bradley too. I also bought backpack, purse, and some totes from Vera Bradley, because they're very light to carry and washable :)

  3. I have the most beautiful leather wallet. I spent maybe 80 or more(?) dollars on it about 20 years ago and it still looks almost new!! Best investment I ever made.

  4. Well, even looking at your old wallet I have to conclude that mine is way too bulky.

  5. It looks durable, things do start to wear out don't they.

  6. Nice find. I have an old Fossil leather wallet that has lasted forever but is really heavy. I bought a cross carry purse with a wallet arrangement inside it that is lighter than the old wallet. Where do we get all those danged cards? :-)

  7. well, I'll have to look into buying a skinny wallet-does it hold change and bills also?

    1. Yes, absolutely. However, it doesn't hold a whole lot of coins. The bills are in two channels on the inside of the wallet.

  8. For that price plus a million dollar bill you got a bargain. Looks thinner, hope it holds up for you.

  10. That's a very nice wallet. If I could justify getting another I would get it but my old wallet is still ticking along :)

  11. Good choice on a new wallet! It looks like it will do the job for you quite nicely. Thanks for the recommendation; mine is fine for now, but you never know. I tend to wash mine every once in awhile by mistake. :-)

    1. The coin slot is on the back side of the wallet. It doesn't hold a ton of coins, but enough for me. There are two slots for bills on the inside which again... works for me. I don't carry wads of cash.

  17. Looks like a good product. If you had waited and bought it now, though, your wallet would be even skinnier. :-)
