While we were in Illinois last month, Art was startled awake by my yelling in my sleep. He said he tried to wake me three times but couldn't rouse me so he spoke directly into my ear asking what was happening. Apparently, I told him the house was burning.
I don't remember any of this, but he says my yelling woke him so he could remember his dream.
Art doesn't seem to get nightmares, but he does get weird dreams. This is what he remembers.
He was jogging along a coastline and noticed that strangely there was a protective railing on the hillside of the track but not on the side dropping off into the ocean. When he looked down, he was disconcerted to see the pounding surf with high waves.
Continuing his jog, a fog started rolling in which made visibility very difficult. Suddenly he heard pounding feet coming toward him from behind. And then he nearly stumbled when a man jolted onto his back.
The runner apologized and Art told him it was rather scary since he couldn't see in the fog.
"Neither can I," said the man. " Because I'm blind."

All my dreams are weird. They never seem to develop in a linear fashion and take such chaotic turns in location and time. I'm glad when I don't remember them and sometimes haunted for the day when I do.

ReplyDeleteSurprised your dreams have screaming. Goodness; let your doctor know. Art may have read about the blind runner who has a partner that runs ahead of him. Guess he didn't have that partner the day he ran into Art's dream. Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteThat was weird but then your burning house was not run of the mill. I normally dream a lot. Most are vivid, good and sometimes I get to fly like a beginner super hero. The only bad dreams are when I am back at work and nothing goes right. The more I try to fix it, the worse it gets. Glad to wake up from those.

ReplyDeleteI used to remember my dreams - I used to be falling and falling. Now I don't seem to have any.
ReplyDeleteI remember most of my dreams and I dream a lot even with a nap. Like Arkansas Patti, I have repeating work dreams, not restful. Lots of dreams with children in them but I have a pile of grandkids.
ReplyDeleteI am also a vivid dreamer, but I've never been in a dream like yours where you just couldn't be roused. Art's dream is very curious. I suspect it has meaning, but who knows what it might be?
