We'd watched the last episode of the British detective show Endeavor on PBS that night. It was interesting though we talked about how parts of it didn't make sense.
Anyway.... I got more and more scared that the killers were closing in on me and I couldn't keep my flashlight steady so my partner would know where I was. (Yes, I know. The killers would see my light too, but when do dreams make sense?)
Suddenly a hand shot out and grabbed my shoulder and I jumped off the roof! Yup. I did.
I'd actually jumped (rolled) off the bed. The hand that touched me was Art trying to gently wake me because he knew I was having a nightmare.
Good grief!
We were both shocked to see me standing next to the bed. It's a good thing I didn't hurt myself because I would never be able to explain this to my doctor.
Sheesh!

That was a phenomenal nightmare. I seldom dream or if I do I don't remember my dreams. I am glad Art could wake you up.
ReplyDeleteOh, dear, what a dream that was. Sorry, I did laugh out loud though. Maybe not watch TV before bedtime?
ReplyDeleteVery vivid and scary. Post photo editing nightmare! You did need a break!
ReplyDeleteWhich was scarier? The dream or ending up out of bed? It's funny how real things become parts of dreams. For me it was the beeping of Dan's scale in the middle of the night for no apparent reason that was in my dream.
ReplyDeleteScary! The only time I ever jumped out of bed from a dream was when I was crawling in a ditch and a snake attacked me. That was a long time ago. I sure hope I don't get visited by a detective dream!
ReplyDeleteI just got one of those spam comments, just before you did. I wish that person would just stop. I've had dreams like that but have never, that I remember anyway, ended up actually jumping out of bed! Glad you're okay. :-)
ReplyDeleteWine, try some wine (or sake) before going to bed; just a little half glass....or wear a seat belt in bed....or lower the bed mattress to the floor...ya don't want to hurt the shoulder, eh?
ReplyDeleteIf it keeps happening, I'd mention to the doc at the next routine visit. Maybe keep a record if nightmares happen frequently.
Linda in Kansas
Hi again, Linda! No alcohol for me before bedtime. I don’t like waking up to have to use the bathroom. Then I can’t get back to sleep. Hmmm... seatbelt in bed. That might work. LOL. I won’t be going to see the doctor until next year though. I’m too nervous. We’ve cancelled our optometrist and dentist too. It’s scary.
DeleteBoy that will get your heart started. Maybe just cartoons before bed time?
ReplyDeleteWell, that was a more vivid dream than I would care to have. Please don't watch any horror shows.
ReplyDeleteHoly cow! Glad you are okay. Oddly enough last night I just finished Endevour as well. Got into my dreams but it was just Shaun Evans and his departed fellow officer George Fancy in his pegged suits they wore, just hanging out. Nothing frightening.
ReplyDeleteI once made business trips with a woman who unexpectedly had monstrous nightmares. I used to sit up and listen, but did nothing unless she would get up. It was frightening--to me.
ReplyDeleteI'm kinda use to those kind of dreams, sad to say. I have fallen outta bed numerous times too and I also kick stuff like my table, computer screen and t.v. I usually briefly wake up cuz my foot is sore. But I hate falling outta bed cuz I get hurt, though I haven't had a serious injury - thank God. The other night I dreamt that I couldn't see too well and I was desperately looking for a small SIM card. Frustration! -BB
ReplyDeleteHi BB! It’s so nice talking to you again. When I took my mom over for her check up last year, the doctor had a big bandage on his temple. I asked him what happened and he said he was embarrassed to say he fell off the bed and hit his head on the nightstand. Gee... maybe I need bars on my bed like the kids had.
DeleteDreams are weird.
ReplyDeleteI think it was the fault of the weird Endeavor episode. Good thing you had your husband around! Thank him for us, will you? Put some soft cushions around your bed, just in case!
ReplyDeleteglad I'm not the only one having weird dreams-can't remember them later but while they are going on they are really weird! just have to laugh it off and try to go back to sleep!
ReplyDeleteNightmares have not been part of my sleep that I recall. ApparentlybInsleep, walked as a kid. Not any more.
ReplyDeleteHello Heidrun,
DeleteIt’s so nice to meet you. I must say, I haven’t gone sleep walking yet. That would really freak Art out.
Crazy dream and younreally got into it!
ReplyDeleteI don't dream anymore. I used to when I was younger - running away or falling. I don't miss them at all.
