Art and I like to do our morning walks before the sun comes up when it's cooler.
On this particular morning I was surprised to see this rose that had escaped the border fence and was poking its head out to greet me.
On the way home, we decided to follow the same route so I could take this photo.
With so many worrying news that keep darkening too many of our mornings isn’t it funny how a little thing like a single rose can perk up your day?
Did something special brighten your Monday morning?
Snow? yes, it snowed over night here and temperatures are in the teens. Can't say it brightened my morning particularly especially since we left the car out of the barn and it needs to be cleaned off before I head off to an appointment.
ReplyDeleteI'll borrow your rose as my morning brightener. Now to Wordle for Monday.
Something special DID brighten my morning, rather someone. My dear and funny friend Kay, and her partner Art. 🙂 That is a pretty rose, we're still dealing with snowfall and teen temps here in Pittsburgh. Looks like winter is over for you Hawaiians! 😉♥️♥️
ReplyDeleteLove you, Doug! I wouldn't mind seeing some snow right now. It's so darn hot.
DeleteThis Monday morning hasn't been brightened for me yet. However I am expecting the electric company to show up and repair my yard for the mess they made repairing a fallen light pole during the last snow storm. That will definitely brighten my day.
ReplyDeleteLovely! I always enjoy seeing things in unexpected places.
ReplyDeleteThat is a lovely way to have your day lifted! I should go check the garden for new shoots.
ReplyDeleteThat's a sneaky rose poking out to see you! My tulips are coming up and the sun is out! Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteYay for the tulips! Gosh... It's been a long while since I've seen tulips.
DeleteThe sky was a little blue and I had brunch at a coffee shop with my younger daughter. Those things brightened my day.
ReplyDeleteMy day has been brightened by a dear friend coming back into town to pick up her contacts nearby - so she is going to stop here for lunch. DH made a batch of red beans yesterday and she loves his red beans... so, yes we will share a lunch together. It has been a long time since the pandemic made going out to lunch (or coffee) with friends a no-no.
ReplyDeleteAnd I think your rose is a great day brightener! It stuck its nose through the fence just for you!
My day started out with rain, and it's still continuing. I did get to have my massage earlier than scheduled because of a cancellation. I'll take it as a day brightener. :-)
ReplyDeleteI think that is why I try to avoid news until the evening. That way I can live an ignorant blissful existence for the best part of the day.
ReplyDeleteThis Monday morning started off with a light drizzle of rain with the sun out. I love to look out my bedroom window and see how happy the lawn is as well as the plants in my vegetable garden.
ReplyDeleteAppreciating all that I take for granted: home, hubby, family, America, food and freedom.
ReplyDeleteFlowers always bring me joy as do puppies, kittens, babies..!
ReplyDeleteIts a cool breezy day today, but very bright and sunny. Cherry trees are blooming in the neighborhood along with the red buds. Daffies are about finished and some American dogwoods are in various stages of bloom or budding. I need to go back out and put some pine straw over some tender leaves. I planted some amaryllis bulbs in a sheltered location even though we are a little north of where they should be outside year round. They have survived two winters. Don't want the leaves to get burnt.
ReplyDeleteLovely rose:)

I do miss seeing cherry blossoms. And yay for the amaryllis bulbs! I loved seeing them bloom again every year.
DeleteThis may sound weird but I just mowed my lawn for the first time this year. What made it so nice was that my early lawn gets covered with the weed Henbit which has a pretty pinky/purple flower but is very invasive. Sun was out, it was cool and was so nice to see the clean path through the henbit. A satisfying feeling of accomplishment.
ReplyDeleteWhile it is cloudy now, my day began with sun shining on the daffodils and making the forsythia glow.
ReplyDeleteNow the work is all done for the day and I can rest. That makes me happy too.
Unfortunately I'll have to rain on your party. Today was very dull dismal. Nothing to brighten things up except Kay's blog.
ReplyDeleteAwww... Red, Now you've made my day even brighter.
DeleteAn unexpected treat.
ReplyDeleteOur weather today felt like the cold of January.
ReplyDeleteYes, Being able to climb upstairs without help.
ReplyDeleteYes and now you've perked up ours too!
ReplyDeleteA gift from the universe, or at least from a neighbouring garden. 😀
ReplyDeleteI wish I was the kind of person who could get up in time to see the sunrise ... as you've pointed out, I know I miss a lot ...
ReplyDelete... and what a beautiful colour rose it is :)
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
I know how you feel when you saw that rose. When I see any of my orchids bloom, I have the same feeling. So thankful for those small moments....
ReplyDelete(FYI: I've tried numerous time to reply using my Iphone to no avail. Hoping my desktop will work better.)
I'm having trouble using my ipad to reply to others too. Sigh... I don't know what the problem is.
