One of the unfortunate things we're seeing around town are masks being discarded here and there by people too lazy to find a waste basket. Seriously? This is so irritating.
Here are some masks we've seen discarded around town.
Seriously?
Decorating a flowering bougainvillea with a dirty mask?
Sigh...

I have noticed them on the streets too. Thankfully when we did the Spring road cleanup a couple of weeks ago there were none to pick up. Mostly BudLight cans!
ReplyDeleteI’ve been finding them for two years now along my walking route.
ReplyDeletethey are everywhere here too. it's disgusting.
ReplyDeleteYep, I come across a couple everytime I am walking up my street to the market or drugstore. At least I don't live near the ocean. 😔 I want to pick them up and throw them away, but I know they were on someone's mouth! I really need to start carrying tissue with me or something...
ReplyDeleteThat is a sad commentary on the thoughtlessness of people. They probably resented the masks in the first place and this is their defiant gesture. Be careful picking them up Kay and use lots of sanitizer.
ReplyDeleteWe have them discarded here too
ReplyDeleteKay that was Christine at cmlk79. Blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteWalking outside any medical facility you are surrounded by discarded masks.
ReplyDeleteIt is so irresponsible. Elastics should also be cut for the sake of birds etc.
ReplyDeleteit's sad...Lin Floyd
ReplyDeleteAnd the flower isn't even wearing the mask correctly! That's a step better than the ground initially. Those who don't plan ahead and have a mask, and use a paper one when required into a building, don't care about the environment or oceans anyway. Sad. Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteThat is so irritating. I don't understand why people have to be this way. Littering is so disrespectful.
ReplyDeleteThat is sad.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it awful. I wonder if some aren't intentional. I know I saw some in the ditch around the area of an accident. It happened in the dark. That said, I don't see too many around here. People are using N95s for the most part, too.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the cities should start putting out "mask trash cans" here and there... with a sign saying "Thank You for masking! and Thank You for not littering!"... ??
ReplyDeleteFocus on the beauty, do what you can, and I prefer to assume that they escaped in the wind, not that they were disposed of. Perhaps some of them were! Wishing you all the best dear
ReplyDeleteI have seen too. Why don't folks just take an empty grocery sack in their car and discard them there?
ReplyDeleteI am giving most the benefit of the doubt. The mask was stuffed in a pocket and when the person pulled something else out of the pocket, the mask fell out unnoticed. I hope. But we do need an anti-mask-littering campaign.
ReplyDeleteSome people just litter so masks are no exception. Perhaps the mask was blown onto that flowering bush and wasn't deliberately placed there.
ReplyDeleteThe other day I saw a mask caught on a branch, high up in a tree. Don't know how it got there. Tried to take a picture but it was too far away. Let's face it (pun intended) with all the masks, a few are bound to get away.
ReplyDeleteI exit a medical facility where masks are mandatory and find them all over the ground. Disgusting.
ReplyDeleteSome people have no conscience whatsoever. Lots of discarded masks around here too.
ReplyDeleteHard to believe how many masks are out there
ReplyDeleteJamie here (still having trouble with Blogger--I'm getting annoyed):
ReplyDeleteYes, I see it all the time. Particularly at curbsides for me.
This is Kay. Darn Blogspot is doing it to me too! Arrrghhh!
DeleteIn the grocery parking lot here. Why wear them inside and then toss them? Plus the grocery has two trash cans outside, left and right at both it's doors. I don't get it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a thoughtless bunch of neighbors you have.
ReplyDeletePeople can be so lazy.
