My son, daughter and I (sometimes granddaughter too) are in a WORDLE battle and it's addictive. It's addictive actually, because of the GIFs that we send each other. GIFs are animated images with no sound that convey emotions.
Recently, (by LUCK, I'm sure) my daughter Tiffany got the word in 2 tries so I sent her this GIF. I'm sorry I can't post the animated picture.
Here, I got it in 4 and wanted to show that I was quite pleased.
My son used to time himself to show us how long it took him to get the answer (usually just a few minutes).
There's NO WAY I would admit how long it takes me.
Brother and sister would often taunt each other (lovingly?).
Keola (Jon) had gotten the word with less tries than his sister.
However, when he didn't do quite as well, he sent this.
And then there was the time I juuust managed to get the word before I crashed.
You only get 6 tries.
And yes... When I get it in 3, I let them know I'm very, very happy.... very, very, very happy!
The kids are really busy, but for just the few minutes it takes them each morning, we all connect and send our love and laughter.

Hah! We just post our results. We are so prosaic. 🤓
ReplyDeleteI play with 4 of my 5 siblings each day. No GIFs are sent but lots of emoticons. Lots of other news is shared too but then we try to do that on another iMessage thread since one sister is still working and has opted out of playing with us.
ReplyDeleteEveryone in my group has stopped posting their results. In fact, I don't play it everyday like I did for the longest time. I still do though when I remember in hopes that I get that all illusive one to fill out my chart. I've gotten a handful of twos, tons of threes and fours, a smattering of fives and a handful of nerve biting sixes.
ReplyDeleteI should add the thing I am most proud of is that I've never found out what happens if you don't guess it correctly in six.
DeleteI have crashed and burned 3 times and it does not feel good. I'm a lot more careful now.
DeleteThis is wonderful
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute and dun way to keep in touch. Don and I do the wordle each morning. it does become a bit of an obsession and a source of friendly competition. I got it in two just this morning -- for the first time!
ReplyDeleteTWO???? We’d be sending a whole bunch of GIFs if we got it in 2!
DeleteI usually get it in 4 or 5 tries but am not in any sort of competition! I enjoy figuring it out and have a run of 55 correct answers as my high number. I'm at 10 right now. :-)
ReplyDeleteLin says never have played it yet...lol!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun competition and those GIFs are funny. Loved the super smiling dog. I still haven't taken the Wordle plunge. Maybe soon.
ReplyDeleteThat is funny! My two adult children and I do the same thing we share and then the winner usually does a GIF which generates reply GIF. I always send a dancing baby for victory and rolling eyes or give me a break GIFs for victory dances they send when they win. It is a fun part of my morning.

ReplyDeleteOops! Thank you for the warning.
DeleteDH and I play... and share our results with each other, but don't post any of them. His brother and my SIL play also and my cousin in New Orleans. Sometimes we share - especially if any of us get it in 3!
ReplyDeleteMy kids and I send our results for Worldle and statele and one daughter and I do wordle results. It's a fun way to connect!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter started off playing it but then lost interest. I still play.
ReplyDeleteI have tried to download it but it is a terrible drain on my phone.
ReplyDeleteSuch competition, I love it! The only time I got the word in 2 tries was "poker" since that is my favorite game. I find that it is getting harder - sneaky 2 of the same letters or words that have too many possible rhymes such as haste, paste, baste, and then I tried out because it was "waste". I don't time myself. I take my time, walk away, do other things and come back to it after awhile - maybe after a bit of Korean drama watching.
ReplyDeleteI've never played; don't know if I'd fall down a bottomless hole if I screwed up.
ReplyDeleteI like your family competition. I just played today's and got it in three! That makes me happy. I have crashed a few times and I hate that. Today was fast, but sometimes it takes me a long time.
ReplyDeleteI admit, I find that baffling.
ReplyDeleteI've not played, and don't EVEN want to get started. Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteI am daily but just share on FB. My average is pretty good guess. I've also not started playing spelling be which is a killer.
ReplyDeleteWORDLE is very popular, but I still haven't tried it.
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend.
All the best Jan
I too play with my kids and grandkids, and it is fun! And a nice way to keep in touch with family. There is a new game we now play which is called ‘Quordle’ - solving 4 Wordles simultaneously in 9 tries, and I can assure you it is much more fun!
ReplyDeleteHello Anonymous, could you tell me your first name next time? I've heard of Quordle, BUT my little brain just can't handle more of a challenge. I have enough trouble with just one word. Sigh...
DeleteI am Asha Nadkarni from India. I read all your posts and love them, although I comment very rarely.
ReplyDeleteKay of Musings: Hello Asha! Thank you very much for your comment. How exciting to hear from someone from India. My son will be visiting Sri Lanka which is close to you.
