Google Lens

One of the great things about blogging that I love is what I learn from other bloggers. Christine of Christine's Blog did a post about Google Lens. She explained how she used that app to find out what a certain kind of flower was.

The only problem was I didn't know what app that was because Google has so many apps. Darn! I discovered it's right there on my Google Pictures app. Duh!

So then I clicked on that and found these. See that red circle I put around that icon? That's the Google Lens. Arrrghhh... I didn't know what that was and had never bothered to try it.

So I pulled up that photo of mom's orchid from my photo gallery and clicked on that Google Lens thingy. You might have noticed that I called mom's orchid an orchid because I didn't know what kind it was.

What do you know? Now we all know what it is.

So I proudly told Art about this cool function and what did he say? "You didn't know this? Your brother showed me how to use it a couple months ago." 🙄

  1. I've used it a time or two in the past, mostly to identify places that interest me in the background of photos I see online. In my case, I learned about it quite awhile ago thanks to Google's reverse photo search which was the predecessor for the smart phone version.

  6. Kay, I don't see 'google lens' on my iPhone SE when I go to photos. Do you have an iPhone? I thought you did...

    1. Kay of Musings: I have the iPhone XR. I found the Google Lens in my Google Photos app. Christine says I can also just get the Google app. I shall have to look into this.

  7. I haven't used it yet. I don't use Google Photos, so it might not be as easy for me, but all shall be revealed in the fullness of time. 😎

  11. Now try some apps on birds. There's an app that identifies birds by sound! When I started my bird group we would get 6 to 10 species an outing. Now we get about 30 species in two hours.

  17. Good to know! I used to use a free app "what's in my garden" and then it disappeared into something that you had to pay money for.

And that orchid name - so complicated! We just call them cattleya orchids.
