Missing Those Fall Colors

Art and I used to love walking in the woods when we lived in Illinois. One of our favorite places to go for fall colors was Harms Woods in Glenview, Illinois. We've been there with our kids and our granddaughter.

Our daughter, Tiffany didn't want me to miss the beauty of nature's colors this year so she sent me these photos that she took when they all went there this past weekend.

Sigh....

  1. Do you not have much variation in seasons in Hawaii? I know it's closer to the equator than the mainland is.

  2. Those are nice photos Kay, we have our own 'peak colors' going on right now here in Southwestern Pa. But you live in Hawaii! You're not allowed to sigh! ;^)

  3. The only thing I don't like about fall are the thousands of leaves that blow into my yard from my neighbor.'s trees.

  4. First year after moving here from a lifetime in Florida, I was almost overwhelmed by all the fall color. I felt like I was living in a cartoon. Use to it now and love it. How sweet of Tiffany to let you enjoy the colors vicariously.

  6. Beautiful! It is somewhat consoling to look at photos though. We have quite a bit of fall color but also many evergreens. It's a nice combo.

  8. We don't get a lot of Fall color here in Texas... but we do get some. I do like the look of all the gold and red leaves when they cover the lawns. But I agree with Dug, you live in Hawaii and have all that beautiful ocean... IMO it's a good trade-off.

  11. Sweet of her to send photos. I'm enjoying them too. It was so dry here (SE Wash) that the leaves have just fallen off all dried up and tan and brown so far. The rains just began again this weekend so maybe it's not too late here for some color. Meanwhile I just admire your photos. :-)

  12. We are still waiting to see if we will have any color in the native maples. Some ornamental maples are showing good color, but anything that didn't get supplemental water is just going brown and dropping leaves. Sigh here too.

  13. Those are beautiful, and we are getting some nice color but it isn't a usual bright display, as Linda says, it's been too dry.

  14. I love the pictures. We don't have a lot of tree's here in Vegas that change colors. Lots of Palm Tree's though. lol

  16. For some of us, we don't realize that there are places in the world where they do not get fall colors. But then some people have green all year.

  18. We have two beautiful maple trees in front of our house. But, yeah, they come with lots of raking.

  19. Yes the colors are nice but not as nice due to the weather of drought and then heavy rains...but it all leads to snow...sigh

  22. For two weeks, it is beautiful, but I think you live in a pretty great area all year round.
